Damn, BW, you're on a hell of a roll there! I hate it when the wave of injuries starts.

At least it didn't happen during fishing season.Lets hope THIS wave is receding.

One lesson I've had taught to me is that complacency kills.I climb ladders thousands of times a year without incident.I simply should've been paying better attention.

I've broken many bones but this is my first rib.The one right under my left scapula.Makes breathing a bitch.

This is not the "vacation" I was planning on.

I hate breaking ribs. Ya gotta take it easy til they completely heal or you pull them apart again. I was changing a fuel filter in my boat once and discovered that I was unscrewing a yellow jacket nest. I turned and ran, tripped over the gunnel and landed flat in the driveway. Took out 3 ribs. First day of vacation. Shoulda faced the bees like a man. Take it easy and heal fast!

The head will feel better tomorrow (3rd-4th day). The ribs are just a pain in the ass. I just cracked one last month. Sneezing is brutal, and for me getting out of bed was literally a 5 minute process. Just go easy and don't push it. You'll heal up ok.

The ribs below the scalpula can take over 8 weeks to heal to be comfortable.
I broke 4 ribs 2 years ago in a fall, took a fall about 8' onto concrete.
Was not diagnosed for several weeks as the initial Xrays won't show the ribs under the scalpula.
Take vicodin, don't breath hard, you should be able to sleep.
I could drive a truck after a few weeks, but movement hurt for at least 8 weeks.

Good luck.

Xrays were done from every conceivable most painful angle you can imagine.

The doc gave me Percs and I can't take a full breath even if I wanted to.

But I do have a Mac surfster on the way!

That's a perfect example why fat guys like me should not be on ladders! I'm more of a ground guy......

It's all gravity. Get the vicodin. That is the codeine and tylenol. I took that when I broke my collarbone and my ribs. You can definitely breath much better after you take 2 of those. Percodin didn't touch it.
Call the doc and complain.
If that doesn't work. Watch daytime television, that will numb you up.

Couldn't say it better.
I worked for a scaffolding company for almost 14 years.
The worst injuries I have ever seen/heard of were caused by "not paying attention"
Might not be much consolation but it could have been much much worse.
I knew someone who broke all of his ribs.
Among other things.
"Wasn't paying attention" stepped back right onto a dead plank.
45 feet to concrete.
