Charter on the Cape ?

Hey Guys. I have a friend from work who is retiring soon, and will be spending a month on the Cape. He's invited 3 of us up to stay overnight and do a 1/2 day fishing.I could tow my boat up from Conn, but it might just be a better idea to get a 1/2 day charter.Anyone have any ideas. He's staying in Brewster, and we're looking at Friday morning June 28. Thanks.

I don't know much about charters in the brewster area, but this time of year might be good in Wellfleet (billingsgate shoal) I fish there every now and then. The water is warm on the shoal and just off it should probabaly hold some fish. There are about 8 boats that run 3-6 man charters right in the harbor. they go as far as P-town also. Give them a call...

Hope this helps, good Luck!!!

BillyBob - sorry I didn't get back to you right away... The people I know and would recommend are in Rhody, Bahstin, & New Bedford. I don't know any Outer Cape charters that I feel comfortable recommending ( I need to experience or people I trust tell me). 2 guys I've gone out with out of Barnstable (a few years ago) I've been less than impressed with... I don't find trollin' an umbrella rig particularly exciting as live bait fishing or casting and working plugs/eels/plastics into the rocks and "working" for fish...

I don't know someone I would recommend around the elbow of the cape but if you want something Mass South Shore/Boston South Shore...

Hey Man,
If you're staying in Brewster, you definately want to get a boat out of Rock Harbor in Orleans.
It's very close to where you'll be.
I haven't been out of there in a while, so you might want to call the Chamber of Commerce to get some boat names.
John is right, though...all of the fish @ that time of the year will be aroung Billingsgate; and you'll be trolling umbrellas, parachutes, or herring spoons (if you're lucky). No casting to rocks, etc.
Make sure to tell the capt. that you're after bass!!! He'll undoubtedly try for blues along the shore if you don't!!! That area is lousy with them in the summer!
Hope I Helped.
Rick

Thumbs up Rock Harbor

I have chartered a trip the last two summers out of Rock Harbor, with Captain Stew Finley on the Empress. He is an old codger and has been fishing out Of Rock Harbor for decades. Both times we caught big stripers and really enjoyed the trip. He is also very open to discussing technique and methods. I would highly recommend him.

try Capt. Bruce Peters www.sportfishingcapecod.com from Chatham. We had a fantastic trip with him on light tackle. He fishes the monomoy rips. Also had a great trip on the Erin H. out of Wellfleet. That was Billingsgate and The Path. Wireline trolling with umbrella rigs.

Both trips very productive and enjoyable. Very different.

I appreciate the help, I got a PM from Striperbum and he recommended Bruce Peters too so I ended up booking him for a 1/2 day.
