Israel expands Gaza offensive
Warplanes buzz Syrian president's home, drawing fire

JERUSALEM (CNN) -- Israel increased pressure on the Palestinian Authority and Syria Wednesday, sending warplanes over the country home of Syria's president and expanding its campaign to rescue a kidnapped soldier in Gaza.[/B]
Israeli airstrikes in Gaza continued early Thursday. Palestinian sources said Israeli troops were moving into northern Gaza -- a move denied by the Israel Defense Forces.
