Has anyone ever livelined pogies at the canal from shore???

why not?.?.?.?.

also when i got to bait shops i see frozen/fresh pogies but i cant find a place that sells them live...

Lots of guys used to liveline pogies. Of course, it was when you could go to any one of about a dozen tidal creeks in a 10 mile radius and get a dozen pogies in a short enough time to keep them alive in a 5 gallon bucket while you got them, then zipped back to the Canal, ran your bucket and a herring basket down to the Canal and got them in the basket while still alive. Guys with pick-ups started keeping livewells in the bed.

Then people started to realize that fresh chunks work as good--and sometimes better--than whole live. Lot easier to get, lot easier to use, as good if not better results a lot of the time. Stiffy and Flap were the ones who kind of started the trend.

The reason guys don't use live today is, well, live pogies aren't around in nearly as many numbers as they were in the 80s and early 90s.

last spring i had a pogie gey wrapped in my line drifting eels. I almost made a mess in my pants when i got it. A wet dream. a live pogie in the canal. Well, I live lined that sucker for 3 hours, running it along the canal to different spots, down to the water before it died. T bag was laughing his Ars off at me, especially since he caught a couple of fish on the big storm while I was doing this. Wanna know how many fish I caught? "000000"
Was actually a pain in the neck cause I'd cast it out and all it wanted to do was swim to shore and park under one of the lights.......On the boat, dead pogies y'd and trolled will out fish a live pogie 10 to 1.

Forget the frozen and look to make sure the fresh ones don't have red eyes. But forget live too a lot of work when you can just buy and toss chunks. Frozen mack much better than frozen pogie. Don't forget to cast the head out.

Cape Cod Charlie's under the bridge always has good fresh ones in the cooler
