Ok, another question...

I've not resolved my other issue but here's another question.

Everything in the PC is backed up except for a number of Word docs my wife does not want to loose.

I'm sure I can rip the drive out and plug into another machine...if I had one.

I'm able to boot using the (6) Windows XP floppies I made. (and no I still can't see the CD drive)

I can get to the files on the hard disk, but when I try to copy them to the floppy drive I get an "access denied" error.

I can cd to A: and see the floppy drive just fine.

Any thoughts? If I can get these documents off asap it would make my life much easier.

thanks,

-spence

No

It looks like there's a Windows sercurity mechanisim that disables the external media...I've not tried the work around (i.e. HACK) but I found a page that describes it.

Go to Dos mode, then use the copy command.

copy c:[pathoffile][nameoffile] a:*.*

This will copy the file from hard drive [c:] to floppy drive [a:] The asterest (*)are there to keep the file name the same.

example:
>copy c:\wifesfolder\spencesbirthday.doc a:*.*
