VS reel question...

Thanks to those that replied to my message about the Fin-Nor AHAB reels. After thing it over a week I decided to go ahead and purchase a VS. Whats another 5 bills for a reel I will probable hand to the grand kids in 30 years.

My question is what model should I purchase? I have a 10ft Batson Rainshadow I made, 20 or 30# Yo-Zuri Hyrid (depending on if Im fishing rocks) and mostly plug and chuck eels from the surf. Before I dish out $700+ just want to be sure what model is right for my fishing and tackle.

Thanks in advance,

Fireman

I think you could go 200 or 250. I'd wager a 250 would be more common.

I have a 250 on a SW 1207, and my uncle has a 200 on the su1207, I put my 250 on the su and it felt great too...don't think you could go wrong with either one.

Personally I like the 200. I use mine on 8, 9 and 10 foot rods.

250 is perfect for 10. 200 would be better if you wanted to use it on a 9 and a 10.

vs 250 is the better size for northeast surfcasting with 10 foot rod.

if you're going to dump that much clammage on a reel and are going with a 200 size VS, check out the ZeeBaas line of dunkable reels.

FWIW, I get just as much utility out of a Fin-Nor Ahab 16 stuffed with grease.

YMMV.

Last time I talked to Rob from ZeeBaas he had mentioned that he might be coming out with a singe pickup zeebaas that doesn't come with the fancy case and extras for close to the same price as the VS.
