Night boat bass . . .

. . . the reconnainssance I have been doing during the calm daylight hours at low tide in my general area has been paying off quite well. Having spent the time idling around all the boulders and drop offs, I have many new spots to stalk the fishies now and with a real chartplotter in addition to my handheld GPS, I have all my trails laid out for all the night time sorties. I now have many more spots that I can now go to depending on the tide and wind conditions, can you tell I'm a big fan of the night, especially this time of the year and at least until September.

This night had us anchored up with the wind at our back and an incoming tide and us able to cast our lures into anywhere from 4-13 feet of sweet boulder-strewn water, just perfect for the bass that would come and go through the area. In the past I have seen the fish highway with bass swimming on by in the daytime as far as the eye could see. I had to get at least one pic of a fish at night in the new boat anyhow so this one might as well be it. Every once in a while we would get a bluefish but the bass seemed to just be milling around between the stern of the boat and the rockpiles and shoreline not too far off in the distance at all.

The question that has been asked about how the season is going is that this has been the best season for EVERYTHING so far, just incredible. Every fish we target and catch, they have been big, and small, and medium sized and many of each kind. The fish are full of sand eels and squid, tiny mussels and crabs, all day and all night. The clouds of sandeels and squid that I can see on the sonar has been incredible as it is the first time having a sonar on my own boat, we can almost tell when we are going to catch by it and what we see, almost like a video game.

You should post some more pictures mostly when you always have an interesting article to read to go with the photo.

I've been making a point of it to scout and find new areas to fish at night as I do like going at night better than in the daytime anyway. Especially when I get to go out alone and am not pressured to put any of my family or friends on fish.

MrHunters, I am in love with my console/dash. It was nice that I got to have it set up how I wanted from the factory and then put all my other stuff exactly where I wanted it.

Great report. If you're hauling fish like that over the side on a regular basis, I agree, post more pics. We never tire of seeing thick bodied bass pulled from our local waters. How large is the vessel?, the console looks huge, nice layout.
