My great Idea
Ok so my favorite bait store got bought out and people keep going into the restaurant next door asking for bait........ So I want to buy/catch a bunch of bait and lures and keep it in my fridge, and Leave a buisness card at the restaurant and if anyone asks for bait they will give them the card. So the pple tell me what they want and if i have it I would rush down to the restaurant and give it to them. I am thinking of carrying:
1. eels
2. eels rigs.
3. freshly dug sand eels.
4. sand eel-rigs
5.clams.
6. ronz
7. squid.
high-low rigs.
8. sluggoes So what do you guy think... Is it a good idea?

Best of Luck. Its a tough business but they say there is money in bait. trick is , where will you get yours from. If you are palnning on digging and catching your own , it will be a ton of work. you need to develop a commercial wholesale supplier that will sell to you..

You also need permits to catch bait for sale, it's only free if it's for personal use. Also paperwork to set up business, IRS b.s., ........ Might be more worth your time to just go fishing.

Not trying to burst your bubble, but it probably won't be worth your time. Do you want to spend time when you could be out fishing waiting for the phone to ring and then drag yourself outside to a restaurant to sell bait to one person at a time? Also, eels and other baits have to be kept alive and unless you have a good set-up for them, you'll be throwing away anything that doesn't sell. I've heard that there are bait vending machines out there. Maybe you ould look for one and put it out at the restaurant where the anglers are going. I think they are made for seaworms and other bait that is more durable like that. That way, you don't have to run out every time a person wants some bait.

yeah dude, from a business standpoint it just seems kind of inefficient. What if you get down there and you got three people waiting for bait too all of a sudden? Plus, this will take up a ton of your time if you start selling a lot.

There is a guy in town here that is making a killing buying herring in totes and reselling it for big profits after the herring plants are closed. He has a peddlers license so it is legit. He pays $28 for a tote which easily holds 200 herring. Then he makes up ziplock bags of 8-9 herring and sells the bags for $5 each! Do the math! He works out of his station wagon(put a big sign on top screaming BAIT) and parks it on the same street as the herring plant. All day and especially weekends people looking for bait do not even make it down the street to the plant before pulling over and handing him money. There is money in bait.
