Winterizing

Okay, I hate to even begin this thread, but.......

As a new boat owner, I could use any advice/suggestions on winterizing. Anybody care to share a list of to do's that have worked well for them??

Homer:
For my boat, I flush the wash down system with the pink marine antifreeze and pour a bit in the bildge at the end. I pour it in the cabin drain and let it flow to stern.
Take everything out, and store indoors.
Change the fuel/water separator.
Fill the fuel tank and add fuel stabalizer/winterizing mix (directions on can).
(do this b4 running the engine so some stabalizer gets into the carbs/injectors/separator.
Grease steering and all engine parts.
I have a home made A frame and a heavy duty tarp. Don't cover the power tightly.
Before I cover it, I try to leave all the hatches and doors open for a while to help dry everything out.
Take your batteries out, keep off the concrete floor and fully charged.

Also,,,
I have a nice write up on doing the power. ( I have to dig it out)
I will follow up with you soon and post it here.

Steve,
Your luck has to change sooner or later, hopefully sooner...Hey I am working on trying to free up on Sunday. Are you still planning on Cape Cod Bay?

I am thinking about it. Depends on the weather reports. If I don't get to CC Bay, I'll either hit Cape Cod's south beaches or PJ. I really wanna try for some tuna -- BFT and YFT if possible.

storage

i would suggest getting some cheap storage, if you can find it. i found one place in Raynham, MA that has heated storage for $50/mo. keeps me from having to shrinkwrap and worry about freezing for the 4 or so months in the winter

Beetle:

I'm gonna have to pull the boat this weekend.

Are you around to give me an opinion on the gelcoat damage???

BTW, once the boat is away we will be searching (and finding) the elusive two legged striper......
