just wondering how the fishing is in boston from shore. my sis just moved out there a couple months ago and i'm not familiar wit the area i might do some fishing when i go visit her. Just wondering how the action is down there and wanted to see if anybody has any ideas where to start? i'm not asking for spots just a general area to start.

tossed soft plastics (6 inch swim shads) around the charles river dam on ebb. Nothing but I could only put in 45 mins. Its been real slow for me. Hopefully this warm weather will heat the water up a little bit.

if you have a boat theres stuff to be caught. the shore is still slow although people who have been fishing the estuaries and mud flats have been having luck. Other ideas would be to take the island ferry to one of the harbor islands and try your luck from there.

Waded Wollaston Beach Sat. A. M. for a couple of hours and had a couple of bumps and lost a "good" fish. I think I saw Raider Nation in the vacinity. Went back Sun. A. M. but the fish were about 1/2 mile off the beach. Good school of breaking fish being chased by the "fleet". I figure if there was easy pickings offshore there wouldn't be many close in. Tried for an hour-nada. Have found it best a couple of hours either side of high.

have yet to hit my favorite spots around the Hahbah,

tried Cape Ann Sun am and was met with sum very picky
eeeeeel p-ups at the right time, tide, and place. at least one big swirl and
two "good" pulls for ALL of about 1.67 seconds, then.............

still a little early that far N, but at least there was some activity.
i usually start with DI and work my way up the NShore from there.
MSNmapslive can be your friend, and will put you into some good visuals of the shoreline..................

Fished from shore Saturday am (9-1pm) with chunks and nada!!!
Fishing log from last year says I did well that day, same tide, sunny and 80 degrees last year. Figured getting out in front of the front that came thru at noon would've been even better.
Anyhow, on business in SLC right now, gonna try again on Saturday when I get back.
I did land a coveted parking spot in my UDL after fishing there for 13 years...had a guy come out and say he's seen me walk by for the last fifteen years, and said I could park in front of his house any time that I wanted to...so at least the day wasn't an entire wash!

yeah i ended up finding some good spots like 10 minutes walking from my sisters apartment i caught a schoolie and lost a couple others but my friend caught a nice 32 incher and a schoolie. There was bunker swimming in dense schools everywhere and some other bait fish but couldn't manage to snag any. Not bad for my first time fishing down there can't wait to go back again maybe wit some bait next time.

Hull gut at night...not during daytime.....too many boats including commercial boats. Long recognized for some nice fish.

I did O.K. there a few years ago, haven't tried it lately. The outgoing rip is pretty good; never tried the incoming.

Out yesterday and we managed three runts. Quit right at hi tide (afternoon) to watch the Belmont. Not much going on and really hot. Would've gone out early, but my plane didn't get in till 1 am Friday night.
Might try after work some this week.

i had some luck with the little guys yesterday.. over the past week its been picking up. water still a bit cold i guess.. i am under that assumption based on the two pollock being pulled out of 10ft of water. found that pretty weird considering its june. shouldn't they have left for deeper waters with the cod?

Last week was fair in the inner harbor around the Poagies. I've been fishing North this whole week at my favorite Flat for June New Moon. One word: "Banner". After hearing the reports coming out of here, looks like I made the right choice. Back out for Fluke and Flounder in the haba this week and will take a peak back in the Poagies.

You may want to try some of the rivers around the harbor as they are now filling with alot of bait and fish. As of a few days ago they were a little sparse but it should be gettin real good now as there is a ton of bait around.
So go get um!!!!

Went out last night messing with the Poagies. More smaller poagies around now then last week. Occasionally a low 30" bass came to eat. After false dawn the Poagies went deep and replaced by smaller forage. Schoolie fest.

I wish I could find a good spot around by me. I live a couple of blocks from Castle Island, so thats where I usually go as I am restricted by bike, and thats the closest spot, but I've never caught or seen anything caught there. I usually try to fish the outflows, but there usually isn't anything around their either

Go at night, or on the false dawn. I have caught plenty of bass there before. The outflows are excellent spots. The earlier/later you go, less crowds. It will only get better as the hot weather looks like its here to stay.

im a recent transplant to the southie area, and also look at castle island as having potential.. never seen anyone catch there, but im gonna start giving it a try..

I live in Southie. Have been too busy to fish Southie this year. But June has usually been good to me there. But, without spot burning, fish the inflow as well as the outflow of both inlets. They vary every day. The beach by the yacht club or inside pleasure bay also hold fish. Incoming or outgoing tide , high or low. The entire South rip rap. Chunks (usually heads) have resulted in bass over 30 pounds. The inner corner of the sugar bowl also works. False Dawn still my favorite time (actually more important than tide). A good group of regulars there, go often enough and you will start to recognize who they are. Watch where they go and what they do. Go early. I am usually on my way home by 6:30 AM when I do go.My guess is these same pointers apply about everywhere, not just Southie.
