Post Connecticut Fly Fishermen's Association...

Anyone here belong to the Connecticut Fly Fishermen's Association?

As I mentioned in a post below, I am considering moving from spinning to the fly in the spring and will be getting some fly fisihng knowledge over the winter to see if I really want to make the switch. (Books, beginner class, seminars, ...)

Along the line of seminars, thought I'd pass this along:

Next Meeting:

December 11, 2002

Ed Mitchell

Ed Mitchell is no stranger to saltwater fly fishermen everywhere. He has over one hundred magazines articles to his credit in periodicals such as American Angler, Fly Fisherman, Fly Fishing in Salt Waters, and Saltwater Fly Fishing. He is also the author of two books - Fly Rodding the Coast, and Fly Fishing the Saltwater Shoreline. Beyond his involvement in writing and lecturing, Ed has been active for sometime in saltwater conservation. He helped found the Connecticut Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association and was its first president.

The program for the December meeting will be:

Shallow Water Strategies for Striped Bass. This slide lecture covers shallow water strategies for striped bass in locations such as salt ponds, bays, coves, and tidal creeks. Topics include tides, wind & weather, season, flies, fly lines, leaders, sight fishing, and the use of a strike indicators in the salt. Also included is information on how to best use lightweight crafts such as canoes, kayak, and rowboats.

It would be very cool to go but a very long trek. I live outside of boston

If I don't have anything to do with the water, It ain't worth doing.
