				Cherokee road rack

Looking through my collection of old stuff, I found I still have a
set of custom made rod racks that fit on the luggage rack when I had my cherokee.

They were made by the machinist where I used to work. All aluminum (painted black) with thick pads for the equipment. they scissor open and closed like the ski racks on the yuppie cars.
We made them specifically for the luggage rack so the clamp is shaped kinda oval for top and bottom clamping. (??hard to explain in words).

I used them when I used to surf fish alot. The back rack is high so the reel could hang down without touching the roof, the front rack is shorter. Highway tested at 70+ MPH. with 11' rods. It will probably hold 6 big rods, it goes all the way across the roof.

I don't know what they are worth, but they are useless to me.
If anyone is interested, I'll take a BO...

OK got some images for ya.

Best I could do.

The bars have thick foam for holding the raods safe and secure.
The clamps have the shape for the luggage racks on my old cherokee. They may fit your roof racks, if not I can get them adapted. Here is the front (shorter rack).

Wow Van those are nice. I think my roof rack is 3"-4.5" wide. I have been using the ski racks but the rear is low. Give me a ballpark, and I will talk it over with the wife. I am on strict orders about money now, we are saving for a house, so I have to get her ok.

I really don't care about getting alot of bucks for them.
I would rather someone gets the use out of them instead of them get dustier in my basement. We can figure out something fair I'm sure.

Lets get a look at your roof racks, these are not that wide, but I have the shop at work and maybe they can be retro'd.

Maybe we can get together after work or weekend and have a look, and take it from there.

		Hey Van,
Did you ever sell those racks to Billy?
If not I'm looking for a set for my brother for Xmas.
PM me yes or no, if no, I'm very interested.
Thanks,
Rick

As i said, here are the images of the clamps on the rod rack.
This rack is tall enough to let surf reels hang down and not touch the roof (the back rack is taller). It goes all the way across the roof and can hold probably 6 big rods.

Here are the images
