Question Naragansett Area Restuarants?

Wife's B'day is Sunday so......

Is the Coast Gaurd House really any good, or just an over priced scenery spot?

Any other suggestions for the area, especially Pt. Judith and or Galillee?

What is The Chowder House in Galillee like?

Needn't be fancy or expensive, just good food and preferably a water view, though we could go walk on the beach before hand.

Was thinking Sunday afternoon, perhaps for lunch or an early dinner.

Thanks............

The Spain is pretty reasonable and good food. It's located on 1A between Scarborogh beach & Pt Jude... Plus they serve pitchers of Sangria ... Never been to the CG House or anywhere else in 'Gansett that I would take my wife to for a B'day or something extra special.

The Mews in Wakefield has excellent burgers and good beer

Steve,

Stop by the C.G. House for a drink if you want, then go to Spain.

Spain is better. But the brunh at CGH is good.
If it is freezing, and you don't think you'll walk later, then go to the CGH at least you will get some ocean views.

My wife dragged me to nearly every resturant in RI (she is really into this stuff ). According to her..Spain was good but a little disapointing and no views (too over hyped), CG is good for a family dinner with the views but the meals are average.

I would take her to Newport, the admirals room at that place on banisters wharf? I can't think of the name but I have been there sereral times and always had a great meal and it is a fun place to walk around after dinner too. (well maybe not this time of year) Be prepared to drop some coin though.

Sunday brunch at the Coast Gaurd House is good. But in my opinion Spain is the best restaurant in that area. I've never been disappointed at Spain. And your wife will dig the 8 spanish waiters falling all over her

Gee, Spain seems to be the place....and I just showed Donna the post by Scotch.....she said "Boy and I was gonna go casual, now I guess I have to wear a short skirt!".....

Funny thing is, way back in 1983, when we were still "courting", one of the first restaurants I took her to was called Spain....albeit in Newark NJ.....and before we went in, we were listening to the radio and the DJ was playing Sting's new song for the first time (a pre-release thing)...."Every Breath You Take"....and he played it three times in a row, and we sat there and listened all three times.....

Guess Spain gets the nod.....

My vote would be for Spain as well, but a very close second would be Casa Rossi --- not as close to the water but the food is excellent.
