Help On The Beach!
I was on vacation last week down the Cape. I must have a sign on my back or maybe I look like I know what I am doing (little do they know ) anyway I always seem to attract people who are looking for help.....I attract them like flies! I had a guy (an older guy) gray beard, about maybe 55-60 come up to me as I was laying out a few casts and ask me a few questions about "how to fish here". The guy was very nice and I asked him where he was from (upstate NY and did alot of lake trout fishing but never stripers or blues) he had a good looking setup well suited for stripers and blues......probably one of his lake trout rigs.....nice gear, anyway he was tossing a rubber shad and he looked thoroughly bored with it so I offered him one of my 1 3/4 oz. pencils to toss and gave him a quick lesson on pencil poppers as he said he was not familiar with them. It began to get dark and as I got ready to leave I pulled out one of my 1 oz. pencils and handed it to him and told him to keep them both and I wished him good luck fishing!! He was about as thankful as he could be and he truely appreciated my help and the gift! I think I got more out of the meeting than he did....it just feels good to help someone out! I wonder if he had any luck? Hope so!

Bigfish, way to go. If someone is truly interested I try to steer them the right way. When I started fly fishing for stripers a very nice guy who lived right on the tidal river gave me some pointers...and a fly. I had only one missed fish to that point. The next morning in the rain I landed 6 small ones. One of my most memorable days. The next day I left a nice bottle of wine and a note on his front porch.

Nice return gesture JoeBass! Had a nice conversation with the gentleman......he lived on the "finger lakes" in upstate NY and had never fished the salt....best tip I gave him was "DO NOT LIP THE BLUEFISH"! It just makes you feel good to make someone else feel that good......he was thrilled to death with my help and I felt great for having done so!

Nice BigFish
There is a lot of that kind of help coming from guys on this website. Nightfighter put myself and Clogston on our first blitz and the boss is always quick to help out a first timer on Cuttyhunk. I give you guys alot of credit. Keep it up!

Very nice, Larry. But now you've opened up the floodgates and guys who recognize you will be ho'ing plugs off you . I can picture it now. Guy to his buddy, "Hey Johnny, there's that Bigfish guy. If you go up to him and act like you have no idea what you're doing, he give you a plug." Better start carrying more plugs in your bag .
