Garmin G2 recall

If you own a garmin GPS unit and use a G2 or G2 vision card be aware that Garmin has a recall going. Aparently theres an error in the software that has put a couple boats aground. I happened to see the notice on the Garmin site and did some followup by calling Garmin.

I own the 545s and it can be updated by downloading new software to an SD card and then inserting that card into the unit. According to the rep I spoke to at Garmin once you do that and try to insert the G2 card back into the unit it will pop an error code telling you that the G2 card has been recalled. You can then call or contact Garmin and they will tell you how to proceed.

If you've kept the original packaging you'll be able to give the card revision number to Garmin and they can verify if its one of the affected cards.

The groundings that set off the recall were in Sweden but alarmed Garmin enough to do some checking on their programs and that was the trigger for the recall.
