n e 1 ever surf fish the caribbean?

going to St. Martin in a week and wondering if I should bring my stuff. gonna do some research tonight but anything will help. Not having a huge amount of luck here so I might as well try it there!

don't know about St. Marten in particular, but bring a light travel rod if you have one. small bucktails (i prefer flats jigs for shallow water) will give you a good shot at snook, bonefish, permit, jacks, etc. storm shads will work on snook if the water is a bit deeper. Try the beaches in the morning, you can often site fish for snook.

I'd definitely go light tackle. Maybe some tins for 'cuda as well, those always seem to be around.

Bring hooks, lead, extra line... Everything you think you'll need. Don't expect to find much fishing tackle down there, and if you do find it be prepared to overpay. I haven't been to St Martin, but it was like that in Antigua.

Can't go wrong with bait, too. I bet you'll have a good chance at some snappers or grunts throwing some chunks, clams or crabs out there.
