Blame the fashion industry for the Euro Hackle drought. Seriously. Forget about a lot of feathers for the near future until they can catch up with demand. Once they discovered that Flatwing Saddles were similar they wiped that out too.
Had a woman on the phone that was completely ready to drop over $3,000 for feathers but there was nothing I could do for her. Had nothing left in the store, and couldn't source any for her.
Get them while you can, if you can.

Peter, any ideal what going on with Joe C and "his" Kenny like flatwing saddles? Been quiet for quite a while, and I did not get to any shows to see him so far.

"His" are the Whiting Farms saddle. Whiting is completely out not counting a few colors.
I have a sample coming from Keough who breeds chickens for a "flatwing" saddle but I haven't seen it yet myself. Could be an alternative.

SO NOW you can see where your feathers are going. so much for the TYING FLYS. stick it, to the little guy again. they say Blame the fashion industry, DONT think so. they know how much they can sell to the FLY community, they took it upon them self to SELL OUT the tyers . an take the MONEY an run. they COULD have KEEP some for the fly industry BUT liked the GREEN
MORE, than the fly tyers. NOW it will take a number of year to GROW birds to PRIME so they can resell them. IF they SELL to the fly tyer again, I can just image WHAT the PRICE will be, BETTER apply for thay LOAN NOW befor interest goes UP!
GOOD LUCK GOOD TYIN
