Ten
Ten years ago today.
Thoughts and prayers to the souls lost that day and to those since.
May we be ever vigilant and healing.

Amen. Never Forget.
All those poor people who just went to work that day, awful.
The first responders on 9/11/01 showed the greatest bravery I've ever seen.
GOD BLESS AMERICA

Good friend of mine (who came by yesterday) a retired school teacher in 2001 was booked on a flight out on 9/11 to California with another friend to ride their Harleys up the Cali coast for 2 weeks! A third friend wanted to go along but they had already booked their plane and could not get him on their flight....so they changed flights. They had originally been scheduled to fly on American Airlines Flight 11 that fateful morning. Call it destiny, call it chance, call it what you will......that small change in their travel plans saved their lives for sure. It was great to see him yesterday as opposed to seeing his picture on the photo roll calls this morning or hearing his name read.

3000 lives and many civil rights were lost that day. I have no use for the jihadist who kill noncombatants worldwide to promote their cause but at least they have to face our military. The people who finance them still live in palaces with immunity.
Anyway today is a day to mourn those lost.A sad day. But tomorrow its time to fight terrorism again.

Mike, I agree. Just watch the new Budwiser commercial where the 8 Clydsdals bow their heads to the NYC skyline and Lady Liberty. Brought tears to this old vets eyes.

Never Forget. Not only did I lose an Aunt in a field in Pa. I lost 343 brothers that aweful day in Sept 01. ts painful to watch some of the footage shown on the tube but I can't pull myself away. For every story you hear about someone who made it out alive there is 10 stories about the ones who didn't. I have several FDNY friends that were there and have some incredible stories to tell. I was at Battleship Cove this morning for the ceremony and we displayed our 9/11 steel artifact to the public. Also on display was Father Micheal Judges badge. He was the FGNY chaplin and reporfedly he was the first casuality on the morning of Sept 11, 2001. I had the oppourtunity to hold that badge......talk about a moving moment. Yes..grown men cry! God Bless any and all who are in any way related to Sept.11,2001.

I was suppose to be there that day for a meeting. Someone stole my meeting room out from under me. I got lucky because I would have been arriving at that time via PATH train under the WTC.

I thought my mom, who is a flight attendant for United was on one of the planes for about 2 days. I talked to her the day before and she said she had a cross country trip the next day. I was in the CG, on a 2 day port of call in Cabo. Had to double time back to ship and get underway when it happened. It took 2 days of trying to get through with the Sat phone to see if she was ok. Longest 2 days of my life. RIP to all those lost. I think about it all the time. We must not get complacent or those SOB's will strike again.

Amazing how that event touched everyone.....this is a Scouter who was on one of the planes that hit the world trade center. The boathouse they built in his honor up at the camp has pieces of steel from the World Trade centers in its foundation.
This is a guy that gave to scouting for decades as a scout and as a leader.
Our troop goes to this camp 3-4 times a year to camp and My son has worked here the past three summers on staff.
Just thought I'd throw this story up for some to read.....one of the names of the many.

I took my son to a memorial yesterday and we saw a piece of a girder from one of the towers. He's only 6 1/2 and didn't know anything about 9/11 so I explained it to him. He was really interested and had a lot of questions about the "good guys" and "bad guys" and why anyone would do something like that. I hadn't really thought about the fact that he's growing up in such a different world than his parents did. When we were kids, you never heard much about terrorism. When you did hear about a terrorist act, it was always in a foreign country.

Conservatism is not about leaving people behind. Conservatism is about empowering people to catch up, to give them tools at their disposal that make it possible for them to access all the hope, all the promise, all the opportunity that America offers. - Marco Rubio
