dissapointing august

anyone else have a tough august fishing? june and early july were pretty good for me, giving me some hope for more quality fish in august. it ended up being a total bust. some of my august spots haven't seemed to hold fish this year, at least when i've been there.

here's to mid-end of september heating up.

I fished three times total in July twice at the Canal and once in York Beach ME. Each time nada,I didn't fish much this year because work was to demanding.I fished close to a dozen times in August and did well.I have no overall complaints, mine are all self inflicted.

Over all my fishing habits this spring took a back seat because of work I really hope this doesn't happen again.....Ever!

Live bait sharp hooks and timing is all you need

I hit the surf hard all summer and this has been by far the worst year I have ever had.

The coastal shore waters were very warm. It went from fish, to no fish, in what seemed like over night! Cooler waters!

2011 sucked more for me than 2010 (so far). I didn't get out much and the nights I did were insanely slow. Haven't broken 30lbs this year...

August was surprisingly good for me in Boston outer harbor, and September has started out even better, no monster fish but several in the mid 40" range and high 20lbs.

August was pretty good for me. I fished a lot and caught a lot of fish, but nothing really big. Only a couple of skunkings, although there were a lot of trips with only 2 or 3 fish. Just being out a lot made it a good month, though.

I am not sure what is a good august , but I dont have many complaints. I've been having a good year. Well over 200 fish. This month i Think I was only skunked once and the one yime I got skunked I had fish on but dropped them. Similar story as others , decent fish but no large.
My one observation is I have had to adjust my fishing alot to stay on fish. caught fish on colors and plugs that conventional wisdom would say wouldn't work.

Can't complain. Got out once in August and was well worth it. Buddies of mine did well in the same spot where this fish was caught for a few nights after. They had one EPIC night of 60+ fish between 2 of them with fish to +40#'s with cookie cutters in the 25# range. They left fish biting as they were absolutely exhausted.

Had one barely 40# and a handful over 35# but August was a bust in terms of gas money spent compared to results. Numbers and average size were down.

I know but if you spent the gas money and window time I did you wouldn't feel that way.

I didnt spend nearly enough time on the water in august. When i did get out i got a few fish in the 20 lb range but nothing bigger than that. So i would rate it slow but not that bad, just wish i spent more time on the water.

Everything is better on the rocks.
