Good news - felt sole ban in RI to be recinded in "Marine Waters"

This just in from RISSA:

Just received a call from Catherine Sparks, Chief of DEM Forest
Environment, saying that a regulation change has just been filed,
amending the regulation ban on felt waders, removing the reference to "marine waters".

The law will apply only to fresh waterways.

I thanked her for her willingness to listen to the saltwater fishing
community, and she credits her boss, Director Janet Coit, for agreeing
to make the changes.

DEM will issue a press release in a day or two.

Steve Medieros

I'd like to thank everyone who took time to send a letter/email to the RIDEM.

Regards,
DZ

Sweet... three pairs of waders saved from the scrap heap... well not really, but I am glad I don't have to worry about being booked and fingerprinted. After all I do have a checkered and colorful past full of youthful indiscretions.

Dang! I just spent about $80 on new rubber soled boots.

I guess the boots I had before will wear out someday....and I do a little bit of freshwater fishing anyways.

That is good news for the salt water guys, but still need rubber in the fresh water lakes and ponds.

some would stick to their guns even when wrong just to save face... Glad to see they are willing to listen to reason and make changes

You mean the idiots pulled their heads out of their a$$ and took a good look at the bill after many calls !!!! Shows you that people that know nothing about a subject are writing bills about the subject.
