Thumbs up Fish Talk

Lets hear some fish talk. I know there are those die hards that are out there fishing in this slop. I can't make it out today so lets hear some fish talk out there. Did you get any fish? Blues or Stripers? Where did you go, what were you gettin' them on? Did you see any one else with any nice fish? Make my day.

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

Paid a visit to NilsC in RI yesterday. THANKS NILS! Had a GREAT time on my first trip to Rhody!

We fished from about 5:00pm to about 12:00am, I think. LOL!

Saw 4 fish all day. 3 shorts, landed by other folks, and Nils had himself a keeper that he released!

Me... Well, I'm still learnin'!

Good luck if you make it out.

...the fish were out there today.....thick and a little picky. Floppin on top, but taking rubber down below. ---I was in the wrong place---but---the right place was HOT HOT HOT ...all Bass.

I think Clammer had the blues cornered in his backyard, the bastage wants them all to himself...

...it finally happened, there are no more secret spots

Me and Rappin Mikey were out yesterday, 12 hours, four fish.
One was a keeper, but our buddy caught it. If you lined all the fish I've caught this year up head to tail, it might be a forty incher.
UUGGHH
I had fun though, we didn't get back till 1:30 last night, left the house at ten am.
Mikey gets a little obsessed sometimes.
He went back down today, I had to sleep. Hope he's dry.
Good news is he filleted the fish while I was in LALA land this morning and I've got 4 pounds of superfresh for dinner tonight, but nobody to share it with.
Keep Dry and Warm guys,
A little nasty out there yesterday.
Later,
Rick

Took the boat out today in the early AM, heard big Mike out there too.

We hit the mackies pretty good. 114 in 3 hours, the cooler was filled to the top
I'm done bait fishing. !!!!! and...my freezer is full to the brim..

No striper followers though...

Live lined a couple of macks for a while, NADA.

Then the weather turned really nasty so we headed home Soaking wet....Just the same great morning on the harbor....

Now I'm doing bills.......

Bring on the BASS !!!!

I have been out 6 times in the last two weeks and have caught a total of four fish.

1st trip, I caught a 29 1/2" striper on a south facing Cape beach

2nd trip, caught a 26" striper at the Canal on the mainland side

3rd trip, nada, zilch, skunked at the Canal

4th trip, caught a 30" 8# blue, awesome fight, on the same south facing Cape beach

5th trip, got skunked again at the Canal

6th trip, yesterday fished for 4 hours and caught 1 bass about 20"

It's slim pickings guys and lots of time put in to get them. Rain or shine get out and try anyway. Sooner or later we will reap the rewards.

'Got into some nice little 3-4 lb. blues off Narragansett beach in the boat yesterday afternoon, but no bass tube-n-wormin'. One schoolie off West Wall. Must have been 50 people on the wall.

Weather is nasty today in southern Rhody; wanna go out anyway.

Lots of fluke around but I haven't tried them yet.

well, had enough of shore fishing. the blues chased out the bass in the apponaug area. so came out the kayak. couldn't find any buckies to liveline. decided to try tube and worm. the first pass around the light house bang a twinkie, big enough to haul me around. next pass, paddling uptide this bass just put the brakes on for me on the kayak. did a few three sixties. landed the hefty boy. decided not to use two rods, had too much things in the water, fishing lines, paddle line, paddle, rocks, and oh yeah other boats. decided to pass the same spot again, turned the kayak, threw the tube, and a paddle, then bang. this bass started to drag me towards jamestown bridge. got a little wet, threw in a half dozens of three sixties, and finally another fifteen pounder. oh man can't wait for the water to get warmer when i can be out here for more than an hour. look out u forties..............

Canalman, Katie and I tried to scrape up a couple of herring around 4am...what a waste of time
went back to the house and grabbed some frozen herring.went to a new little spot that produced when the wind was westerly. plugged till our arms hurt. did set one rod up with a chunk. Canalman managed two shorts maybe 20" one on a storm the other on a plug. Katie and I got skunk on artificials.

did manage to catch a very fat 10# 30" on a chunk of herring which was released.

this easterly wind definately bites more than the fish

I did OK this weekend from the surf...not great but pretty decent overall.

Caught a slew of fish Thru night about 10 bass all in the 28" range nothing large.

Fri early got a few bigger fish...managed a 28.4 lb (42"I think) bass (that fish managed a 2nd place in the #^&#^&#^&#^&s B&T tourny here on MV this weekend...good for $150 )

Sat only got out for an hour...1 small fish.

Sunday picked up 3 keeper fish with a lot of work.

My finger is sore so that tells me I had a good time.

Heard the daytime fishing on Sat was hot...I was installing electronics, fertilizing the lawn, and cleaning the garage.

IMO it has slowed down a little from the week earlier. Had to fight the weed in places and the weather was a bitch one one night (I forget which night) but it was a sandstorm on the beach blowing 35 at my house.

Went out Sunday caught two shorts. (Dennis, MA)
Went out yesterday got 1 - 31 inch, 2 - 27 - inch, 1 - 23 inch. No one would go with me. My wussy brother thought it was going to rain. Also he was going to make me drive to NH to get beers. I already had to drive all the way back home after fishing. I said I'm spending my time at the hole. Great decision. No rain, a few decent fish.

I fished West Dennis last Thur, Fri, Sat. all along West Dennis Beach and from the tip of the jetty down to the railroad bridge on Bass River. Metal were definitely the lures of choice for schoolies, and anywhere I stopped I usually hooked up. On my first cast off the beach around the first bathhouse with a Skipper, something hit hard, but I was totally unprepared for it. Judging from the teeth marks I'm pretty sure it was a big head or racer blue, but he never gave me another chance. Lotta fun, but no keepers from the Cape made their way back to NJ. Will try again in June.

Got out on monday. Went through the cut at chatham to the outside of Monomoy. E NE wind was blowing strong. still 50 degrees on the outside. Fished at the tip of Monomoy. All the seals were there, which I hoped was a sign of fish, but nothing. Almost 51 there. Came back on the inside and ran into some birds 5-7 lb blues were aroundand the water was 55, but no bass in the mix. It was late though, about 1:00. The winds must have blown all the bait towards falmouth. Finally threw some pink sluggos at the entance to stage harbor on the dropping tide. Fish only up to 14 inches on almost every cast. we need some sun and some SW wind.

Have the day off today, since I got to work saturday, so I went south. I was at a certain location where there were many guys fishing live herring. I saw about 6or 7 fish that were 12-20 lbs, and as I was getting there a guy has just landed a 41+ or - lb fish. He weighed on his digital scale, was larger than mine last year so it was probably dead on. Oh, well of course I had no herring with me Iam going to try for some tomorrow, and head back tomorrow night.......

west wall

Went to the west wall on saturday not much rain but plenty of wind Caught 1 blue and about 10-12 stripers biggest about 20 inches smallest around 10(got major bass thumb to prove it) using a yosuri shallow diving minnow and i had a guy there tell me that the only way i was gonna catch anything was on a white grub he said that there was no way i was gonna catch any sripers on my minnow he had never seen anyone catch any stipers on anything but live bait and soft plastics there after the 5th or so sriper i offered to let him borrow one of my lures but all he did was give me a sour look and left(he wasn't very friendly) i was just trying to be nice and make some friends but he didn't see it that way i guess he didn't like being wrong. oh well i would rather not fish with people like that anyway i like to fish with people who are friendly and who like to have a good conversation and have fun.

A mans got to believe in something..so I believe i'll go fishing
