Shooting Trap off the boat
If on a nice calm day I were to bring the trap thrower out on the boat offshore a few miles with no one else around can i shoot some clays off the boat without causing an incident?
I don't belong to a gun club at this time and miss clay shooting sometimes.
I wouldn't think it is an issue but now a days...... If I were to use up allot of my old lead shot, wouldn't be in the wetlands etc. Have fid onboard.
Thoughts?

I would do it if there were no boats around for sure. Sounds pretty fun actually. Shooting clay is fun stuff Nevermind mixing it in with some boating/fishing.

You would be in "federal" waters, correct? I wonder if there is some kind of law on the books about firearms out there, there must be!
Go out on a rough day and see how many you can hit

Not necessarily. In my area if I go out 3mi then yes. If I head farther north then that line extends towards Glostha. I'll stick to the calm days.....

Yeah well I would be willing to bet MA has some anti-gun law that extends to the ocean
come to think of it though, it is legal to discharge a firearm in MA if you are more than 500 feet from a dwelling like Swimmer said, but you also have to be 150 feet from a road, I wonder if there is something similar about navigable waters, of course that would be ridiculous, but who knows!
I would also be careful about the sound traveling and attracting attention, I bet a shotgun blast would make it pretty far on a calm day..
