Fall run in Rye NY area

I'm just getting my feet under me in our new location here in NY. I'll be toting my surf gear down this weekend and hoping to give it a shot soon. Was wondering if anyone had any opinions on when they thought the peak run was in this area (2nd half of November?)? I'm not looking for any info on locations just timing. I plan to look for easy access and just enjoy the serenity. If I even see a fish it will be a bonus. The end of Mararoneck ave at Harbor Island is very close to home. Might start there. If anyone wants to hook up for a few casts they are welcome.

Know nothing of the area by foot though have caught from boat around there before - good luck in the new location

But you can go out to long island now

Don't laugh. There's been a good bite around Jones Beach for a couple of weeks now. Less than an hour away. It's been an early morning first light bite.

Better bite in the springtime in that area, when the fish start coming out of the Hudson river.

All of the above is correct....or at least in sync with what I have seen.

I think the run...goes around the sound, so you need to go to LI.

Springtime is much better, but shore access blows in general.

Fishing the sound is like fishing a lake most of the time.... no surf affect,
so the drains from the saltwater ponds are the most likely targets if you want to find fish.

The best year was 2008...since then it has been crappy for me
especially in Fall. During the fall, I need to drive to the open ocean
to access the run.

No fall run

There hasn't been a fall run around here (western sound) in ages, I went to Robert Moses State park last week and the bite was at dawn as previously stated. Took me an hour from Mamaroneck and and with the south wind I used a Heavy 3 oz SS needle, 2.5 oz Po-jee and a47 diamond. I would forget the sound and go to Moses or Jones Beach.

The fish make their way up the East river in the Spring and than back that way in the fall. Not all the bass go via the Montauk route. And than, there are the winter holdovers.

Be encouraging, not discouraging

The fishing is quite good in Mamaroneck.
Start anywhere in the harbor or any access point you can find.
Catch schoolies right up through mid December.
Try playland area in Rye too.
Wherever you can gain access from Greenwich down to New rochelle will get you
Bass close by.
Good luck
