Notaro - does your calendar say mine is open ? Actually - we are busy that day but I wouldn't want to brave Cape traffic then... We'll have 2 more legs in Sept / October and we might have something impromptu before that but we'll need to see down the road - not to say that people can't do something on their own - just nothing officially happening for a couple months. This is when we try to refill - or simply not drain as hard - the cookie jar

I'm too busy that weekend with family and friends and all that. If I'm doing any fishing that weekend, it'll be LATE at night when parents are busy putting their kids to bed.

Time to head offshore for Tuna
A fishing bud of mine and I have been studying the eddy's down south (80 mi.) and he (because it is his boat !) thinks it is time.
Light winds right now and relatively come seas. I can't go because of work (*&%$#!!!!) but on or around the 4th hopefully it will set up right. He is absolutely focused on it !
Down there is Yellowfin, Long fin, Marlin (maybe), Wahoo, Mahi (soon). The route is out of Nantucket Harbor, head West to Madaket, throught the cut and South for 70-80 miles.
Known as "The Canyons".
The best kind of boat cab overnight. You leave at early 1:00-2:00am and fish the am bite, work the breaks all day, fish the evening bite. Have a cook-up , etc. Nap , fish the am bite and head on home.
It is incredible when it successful. More important is a smooth sea or long swell as it's sometimes called. I have been out when the forecast is 5-10 and it blows 20-30 and man it is brutal.
You are completely exhausted and bouncing off walls for a day or so after.
But there are those fish .................

Sweet
Have a relaxing time maco.
I sneak off to the beach at night. The tourists have them by day.
We (the bass and us) have them by night !

Way too much traffic, people, alchohol, and fireworks, and, I'm just talking about the beach! If it wasn't $makin' time, I would get the hell out of here for the weekend. Beach has some quiet places, but last year... fish just came into this hole I was working after work, after dark, and somebody decided that would be the perfect time to light off about 5 grand worth off NH's finest fireworks, aiming them from the berm, just over the water, so much for that nice "quiet" stretch of beach.... well.. back to work!

When I lived in South Plymouth, we had one cardinal rule---the only time you crossed the bridges on a weekend was after 10 PM.
If you really want to spend holiday or weekend time anywhere within 5 miles of the bridges, get to know the back roads.

Amen, Mike P, Amen...
Good thing I spent many a summer in Onset/Wareham growing up, knowing the back roads are key!

Those are good rules gentlemen.
I made the commitment to cross the pond 13 years ago and leave the bridge behind. Problem is some people like not having a bridge and find their way here anyway.
Cape goes over 500,000 faces the 4th, Vineyard 90,000 +, Nantucket 40,000. It is pretty much like going to a Pat's game for the weekend.
At night the beach is EMPTY....
Hang in there folks

Yeah, while reading this, I realized that I probably need to stay home and wave the flag and shoot out roman candles with my immature cousins.
