I've rebuilt a bunch of them when I did work for a Jamestown tackle shop. All that I have seen had relatively light (in weight) fiberglass blanks where all of the weight savings were trashed by attaching them to a 18 to 24 inch long piece of large diameter aluminum for the butt section. The whole handle (cork) was built on the aluminum along with a (heavy) chrome over brass reel seat.
I don't know who built them, but they had a nice, soft action blank with a heavy handle.
