Thank God Varitek isn't Charlie Moore.

If ever there has been a more ridiculously stupid character it is he.

Does anyone recall the thread about ignorance around then sea, darwinism, etc. ?

Charlie will be one of the first to go.

What is it about loud, ignorant, Southie types who just don't know when to shut the &#%$ up ?

Sox are a good team this year. I am a NY fan but am hoping they can hold it together. They deserve it.

For all the yankee haters out there. I was conemplating printing a new bumper sticker:

"Winning Sucks"

BW, Another New Yorker on Nantucket, what a surprise! It is an absolute disgrace that Varitek wasn't picked, he is having as good a year as Posada. Charlie Moore is annoying but that's why he's funny. He's a die-hard Boston fan so I can see why it would get under your skin. Don't want to turn this into a Sox/Yanks thread but what about these comments from Steinbrenner and Clemens from the past few days? Some very ignorant comments coming from 2 very arrogant people.

Have to agree,

I am actually from Connecticut (outside New Haven) and we were a family slpit down the middle between the Sox and the Yanks.
Became a Yankee fan in Fall of '69 because I was 5 and wasn't into the Mets.

So you Sox fans should have some respect for me. I grew up having a lot of respect for you.......

Clemens and Steinbrenner. They are ALMOST as painful to listen to as Charlie Moore.

Yanks fans have a bad rep. It is founded upon years of poor behavior. I like to believe I don't stoop to that level.

Sox are a great team this year and the Yanks don't suck either.
I would actually be relieved if they could make it to the series and win one. I have a lot of friends here who are diehards and don't like to see them unhappy with the Sox and the Yankees.

I have lived in Nantucket for a long time. I AM NOT some migrating, transient tourist.

Please make a note of this.

I know you've lived there for many years, I was just making the point that there are a ton of New Yorkers on the island. I'd want to leave NY too though if I lived there. Can't really say much about the Yanks because they are 3 games up and you have to give them credit for dominating the last 2 games of the series this weekend. I just get worked up when Clemens opens his mouth about anything. Can't wait for the next series, should be great after all the $hit-talking going on.

It ok Jay,

I only kicked and screamed and cried for a few minutes.

You are right about the New Yawkahs out here but:

Jersey, Connecticut ( ), PA, and every other state and country you could imagine shows there poseur faces here.
Vineyard has the same issues.

I'll say it:

Go Sox !

I would always rather the division comes down to the two of us than anyone else. Let's just hope we stay ahead of Oakland for 2nd place.

Varitek gets a vote from me but, Pedro ?

Man, hitting BOTH Jeter and Soriano in the same game in the same place. Oh the injustice of it all

I love baseball almost as much as fishing for Bass.........

Already voted for Jason. Always a Sox fan (basically because my dad was) as a kid growing up on on L.I. and to date in N.J., but not a Yankee hater per se. I was in heaven while the Trenton Thunder was a Sox affiliate, but they moved out and in came the Yanks. Went to a game the other night and the rumors were true. Bernie Williams acted like a complete d**k to the crowd. Some inspiration for the kids and fans. Jeter was top a top notch gentleman the whole time. Don't know where I'm going with this. Go Sox! Bring the franchise back to Trenton.

No way he hit Soriano intentionally, he got hit swinging at a 1-2 pitch and it was actually a foul ball and he didn't get awarded first. As for Jeter, even though it was also a 1-2 pitch, that one was a little more suspect. We'll just see what happens in the next series.

Jay,

Thank you. Truths are truths.

It was a great game, win or lose.......

Next series should be a hot one. Let's hope we are both still battling for first with no one else in sight !

Good post I hope the race stays close all season. I never give S**T to a sox fan util they start it so dont give me a hard time about the Yanks. I dont like to see roger on tv and personaly I think both he and Pedro thro at anyone they think are a threat. Looking forward to the next series.
