Spooling help...

Long time no see all, hope all is well and the holidays were good!

Since the blizzard gave my neck of the woods a big time snow day (days in some spots) I decided to spool my setups.

Since I was raised old school, my Penn reel and any other reel I have ever owned is the old mono backing or going full blown mono (old news).

Now that I have this Penn 5500 Spinfisher reel it now has this rubber ring in the center (gasket) which the company claims because of this ring there is no need for mono backing.

This is my first encounter with this thing but I intend to put on backing regardless but do I slip the line under and over this ring and tie the Arbor knot to that or that gasket just sits pretty while you just spool as you would with anything else?

Feeling pretty stupid....

Tie your arbor knot over the rubber ring and you're all set.
