I just had the computor tuned up just a few days ago. Updated version of Windows vista premium installed. I have downloaded automatically numerous updates in the last few days. Its only since all of these updates were downloaded did this start. Everything is plugged in fine.

Its the power management settings, go into control panel and adjust accordingly.

If it's not a setting, review the latest set of updates prior to this issue and remove them one by one until it's resolved.
Could be an update causing conflict with your graphic driver, some type of display driver update???
If you're still not sure, do a system restore to an earlier date.

No its a setting that causes the issue with the update, its a known bug in windows 7 and some windows 8 systems that they have not been able to resolve. On the MS boards they seem to think its related to some piece of hardware which i will agree.
For example I fixed mine by turning off the power saving option on my network card.
I do not recommend doig a system restore in vista i would rather do an OSRI to win 7.
