Pure Fishing Abu reel repair....

I finally sent in an Abu Record RCN61 HC for repair last week as the reel would not engage. Received a letter today from Pure fishing stating that "upon our evaluation of your reel we determined it would be more beneficial to you if your reel were replaced with specially discounted reels we are offering to you." The offer was for $110.00 which comes to $126.83 with tax and freight. Retail was $199.95

So I go to their site and see that they are offering these reels (now labeled as 6601) to the public at $112.47, and the details on this reel's page states that there is an additional 25% off select clearance products while supplies last...... Some special discount....

And if I don't reply in sixty days the reel will be discarded...

Not happy.

Any thoughts before I call them tomorrow?

Yeah-
Out them and let them know that they just blew away a pile o business with your posting about it. Ask to speak to a manager first to arrange getting your reel back; or better yet, sent to someone that will repair it.
That's the kind of BS that really P's me off.
On a sort of related story, I just had to order a blank from Mudhole to replace the one my girlfriend just broke. And FedEx lost the package, which makes 3 out of 5 deliveries they've eff'd up in 18 months or so.
Best Mudhole could do is put in a claim and re-send the order so I'd have to wait another week because they said FedEx wouldn't pay to overnight it. After chewing them (FedEx) out and making a PIA of myself over a 12 hr period, FedEx will cover an overnight- they actually contacted Mudhole to tell them- and I should have it tomorrow. Now I have to get it built by Saturday and I'm really pretty busy right now.
This happens because FedEx uses subs to deliver and sometimes they come to Litchfield county from quite a distance and one front porch seems as good as another....
But anyway Ross, burn their butts

They are going to get back to me. One hand doesn't know what the other is doing, ie. the reel repair dept. was shocked to learn of the offering price on the web site and on first take, appears to be in my corner. We'll see.

Wish there was an ABU repair site you could trust like Shimano.

They offered me an additional 25% off, so I took it and will have a new replacement here within a week. The tech said that the internals and side plate had pitted and were too far gone, even though I rinse religiously.....
