Rivers End Striper Surf Day 2017
STRIPER SURF DAY
March 25, 2017 10 am - 4 pm
440 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook, Connecticut
Get ready to celebrate the original Striper Surf Day at Rivers End Tackle. It’s a great day to hang out, take in a seminar and tell some lies with fellow surf rats. We’ll have great speakers and an emphasis on how to demonstrations, factory reps, sales, raffle prizes, great food and good friends.
FEATURED SURFCASTERS and DEMOS
Toby Lapinski will be conducting a seminar on “How to fish eels effectively”. Toby will get into all different methods to fish eels including live, rigged and fresh dead eels. He will explain to you his equipment choices, including rod, reel and line setup, leader choices as well as what hooks and knots to use.
Dave Pickering – Targeting Keeper Stripers and Large Blues from shore. The show will outline tips and techniques for catching larger fish from shore and will follow a seasonal theme. Plugging with artificials will be emphasized with various types of hard plugs that imitate prey. These include fishing plastics, fishing jigs, swimmers, topwater plugs and various other lures. Identification of seasonal baitfish, fishing the migration periods and fishing at night will all be covered.
As an added bonus there will be a short segment on catching false albacore from shore.
Steve McKenna will be demonstrating how to rig Slug-Go's and load Red Fins and Northbar Bottle Darters.
Dennis Zambrotta will be on hand to answer all questions related to surfcasting Block Island. He will have island maps, samples of the best gear to use on Block, and a collection of plugs and gear used by Steve Campo, including an original hand made Campo surf bag. He’ll also be signing copies of his book “Surfcasting Around the Block”
Billy DeLizio will be demonstrating how he rigs and fishes a wooden eel bob.
One of the highlights of the day will be the awesome raffle prizes. Top prize this year will be a Van Staal reel as well as great rods, reels and lures from other manufacturers.
We’ll also have various reps from Tsunami, Stormr, St. Croix, Albie Snax lures, Guppy Lures, Northbar Tackle, Cobra Baits and more.

Bill did a wonderful job building some wood eelbob's for me a few years back. This is definitely unique.
