Cajun Navy
Civilian boat owners getting it done in Texas. And Louisiana. Without these folks it would be a much worse scenario.
The rain totals are insane, My cousin in Waco told me on Thursday that they expected their son's house in a Houston suburb would be lost... They evacuated early, after some hard selling from the parents.

Your right. Allot more shallow draft freshwater type bass boats down there better to go up and down flooded streets.

Cajun Navy is getting it done.
My High School best friend's mom was taken by boat from their house as their neighborhood was mostly under water.
Crazy stuff going on. They are having three times the rainfall in a couple days that we had in RI on the Warwick / West Warwick Floods of 2010. Both instances were on top of weeks of rain that had saturated soil. Oh, and a Hurricane. Going to be a big problem in the communities east and south of Houston.

I have a friend down there, 3ft of water in her first floor. She's still on the second floor with her 2 kids and a dog. Still has power believe it or not.

Horrible for all involved. One of my favorite things about being a human being in general, and an American in particular, is that when things are at their worst, we are usually at our best. Wish we were more like that, all of the time.

What really hits hard is that this is not from a break in a levee like they had in LA during Katrina, but rather just epic rainfall from a stalled tropical post-hurricane storm.
Make you wonder just how much moisture a big storm can really hold??
I only hope that when the waters recede that the dregs of society don't make their presence know and start looting people homes.
That's like the line from the move "Starman".
When Jeff Bridges (as the alien) says what he finds interesting with humans..."you are at your very best when things are at their worst!"
I would like to believe there are more people willing to help than those willing to take advantage in situations like this.

I called my Brother in law yesterday, (My Wife is in Australia for work) He picked up the phone on the 1st ring I was shocked he was still in his house I couldn't get his cell phone number off of Google
He said they were still dry but areas were flooded around them and if things change he would let me know.

Got an email from a good work friend in Corpus Christi this morning. Said he hunkered down at his house for he saw the eye was going north of Corpus. He lost some trees and a fence. Lost power from Friday til monday night.
He said the snapper fishing had been awesome before the storm. Also says many boats sank and that he will be looking for 30 foot center console twin OB for pennies on the dollar very soon!!
