no power to the helm
here it goes.. I get home and see my t top light is on ?? wont turn off I unplug it from the bus bar .. plug in my battery charger and go to bed ..
head to the ramp start the motor start heading out go to turn on my depth finder no power no wash down pump no running lights nothing
Motor started no issue fish 4 hours trying every no and then still nothing ,,, drop a rod overboard (omen) I head home ,, try one one time like magic Power !!
checked all fuses connections all good
All I can think was weak batteries ? but they had the juice to start the boat easily ..
any ideas

Yah, sounds like weak batteries...
Maybe you should drive off again with the charger still plugged in and tear your front porch up, that might fix the problem, just saying
Plus, I thought u was back to work..

It would be pretty weird for the electrical system to have the amperage to start the boat (or even turn the engine over) but not turn on even the slightest helm component.
All the nagative connections in the helm are good? Connections at battery also? No corrosion at the battery?
Do you have a dedicated starting battery?

check your power line from battery to console to see if it is chafed, pinched or impinged. This is a common problem when power loss to instruments in T-top boxes as supply line gets chafed on hard turns through tubing.

I agree with Nebe. I would look for ground issues, if the t top lights were on chances are the console accessories are grounding through that circuit somehow.

In support of the ground issue theory, I had a gauge that wasn’t lighting up with my navy lights. I took the wiring apart, measured current, made sure it SHOULD all work, and cleaned everything.
Still didn’t work.
Ended up spraying everything with CRC and covering connections in dielectric grease and magically things started working.
I think the punishment of marine environments on electrical connections can make them extremely finicky.
I’d suggest turning on your VHF so you’re hearing loud static and then go from the battery up to the helm shaking cables especially near their connections.
Given that you’re having intermittent power supply issues, that should help you identify your problem spot:

Since you were not able to turn off the t top lights it is possible the switch that controls the lights can be faulty.

thanks for all the responses found nothing loose no corrosion put a full charge on the batteries went out the next day .. no issues as if it never happened ... well the up side is 1 time isn't a trend ... I hope

issue appeared again .. i think i found the issue a 50 amp circuit breaker installed between the batterie switch and power line to the helm had a reset button but was very corroded replaced it (think it was a weak breaker .. now a sea trial to see if that fixed it or if something is tripping it ... wouldn't think radio and 2 chart plotters would trip a 50 amp breaker.. well see
