How the hell does this happen ??
I take daily care of my 89 year old Dad. He’s in pretty good shape for his age other than dealing with Myasthenia Gravis he does ok. Thursday he started to feel off, by Friday morning I’m wheeling him into Beth Israel Hospital. A day later he’s in ICU with Legionnaires disease ! I’ve had him living in a bubble for 8 months. All I know it’s in the water, somehow he ingested aerosolized water. He lives in Quincy. Not near any AC units, or anything that condenses water. The only thing I can come up with is the shower or swallowing water the wrong way.
2020 just refuses to go away.

So sorry for your Dad and I’d agree this year is the year from hell, it’s never ending the bad news we get from all fronts.

Holy crap Bob, that is surprising. Are they sure? maybe a second opinion but that sucks for sure. I wish him well. You ain't kidding about 2020.

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.
1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!
It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.

Definitely legionella bacteria.
Covid negative.
So far holding his own. A little better today than Friday.
The thinking is he got from the tap. He has difficulty swallowing and sometimes gags on water. Gets in the lungs. He’s on prednisone so his immune system is compromised anyway. Only purified water going forward. Turned the water heater up as high as it goes and ran it through the faucets for a while.

That’s pretty FUBAR. My mom had difficulty swallowing late in her life due to MS and one bit of aspirated food was instant pneumonia. Wishing both of you the best.

Sorry to hear this bud - will he pulling for him. Crazy, crazy world we are in right now.
I was told two days ago that my brother has COVID, now today I am told he doesn't just the flu. Do not haver the details but I assume false positive on Rapid Test and negative on slower but more accurate. Hope it is not the reverse

Hang in there! We walk the fine line here too, as we have my 85 yo MIL living with us. So far I have been able to pick and choose the jobs I am comfortable doing, mostly outdoors and at a safe distance from anyone who I may have working for me... for the most part. I have schedule indoor work that is mostly in homes of snowbirds that I look after during winter months and they are gone.

You have a brother? Huh.. Did not know, or forgot, or wasn't listening to you. I know I have told stories about my dumbazz brother here and on Cutty trips before. Well hope he is ok, John.

So sorry to hear this. Could be another sourse like soil? Potting soils? Does he garden or anything along those lines? Hot tubs water heaters or humidifiers? keeps it all in mind. Praying for a speedy recovery for your dad.
