Thumbs up Wicked Good Lump Charcoal

I just picked up a bag after reading rave reviews about the stuff across the net. I have to say it is really is that good. if you are used to cowboy from Homies this is amazing. There are actually very large pieces, and it all seems to be natural wood (no rocks or other strange debris) and burns LONG and clean. I did some ribs this weekend plus some chicken halves in the smoker and on my kettle grill. Made a big difference. For anyone who is semi serious about their BBQ - try this stuff.

Wow, cool site. I found it at a local hardware in Harwich, it was not cheap, but that could be the store. It really produced hardly any ash, the only drawback was it took a little bit to light it as compared to say Cowboy. It took a little while to get started but once it did it was better than what I had used in the past. The WSM went for a long time with a good solid temp.

You guys will probably laugh but I have found the best charcoal to be.......Sam's Choice. Get it at Wal-mart, bigger briquets and they burn longer than kingsford. Spectacular for Dutch Oven cooking and Smoking.

Go Ahead....Laugh

They are still made of wood.....they are made by charring wood chips/sawdust and then compressing them...add in a little coal and you are good to go.

I've used the Cowboy charcoal.....Great for Steaks and Burgers....got a real high heat but burned out way to fast for DO or smoker use.

I smoked some ribs for 6 hours last weekend w/ the Sams charcoal...only had to replenish once.

have used it a couple of times w/ the DO and was very happy w/ it

the best grill

a friend sent me this.

Remember this when we invite you to our next picnic!!!!
Grilling tip
As every Southerner knows, come spring it will be time to get ready for that all-important cooking technique of the south --- outdoor grilling!
I have just found out there are many stores (not just in the South) where you can get a FREE barbecue grill! In these tough times, free useful items are very welcome. You can get a free BBQ grill from any of the following stores:

A&P

Albertsons

Big Lots
Costco
Dan's
Food Lion
Fry's

Harris-Teeter
Harvey's

Home Depot
Lowes
Publix
Safeway
Sam's Club

Tesco
Target
Vons
Trader Joe's
Wal-Mart
Winn-Dixie

I especially like the higher rack -- which can be used for keeping things warm!

Just make sure to get a metal one... the plastic ones don't do so well.
Y'all enjoy now! Y'Hear!!
