Check these out

my latest vintage finds from the e bay, all four plugs for 30 bucks with shipping.

Gibbs gts troller, lots of use, pretty rough and deep hook rash

capt'n bill swimmer, no hook rash, nice paint

Plastic striper atom, one of the original ones

Wood striper atom, one of the originals from 1945-1948, has the skeleton paint on it. The lip is so thin and hand formed.

Was reading the saltwater classic article with bob pond and seems like the wood plugs were produced from 44-48, and the skeleton paint scheme coming out in 1945 to 1948.

The guy I purchased them from said his dad was a charter boat captain in the 1950s and 1960s, I asked him for more info and hoping he gets back to me.

Wish these plugs could talk, bet they have some great stories.

Once the shop is set back up I will be turning some of each and using these for reference.

Love the old plugs and everything about them.

I just made a wooden A40 (from AYC) this weekend based on the Afterhours A40 I bought at RISSA.... looking forward to trying these plugs on the canal... the AH A40 is herring colors and mine is all white with light pink pearl on top and a red chin..

Here is the response from the seller I got them from, Ill do some research in the next couple days. Pretty cool.

"Chris, my dad , Ray Nickerson, fished Cape Cod Bay from the 1940's all the way to the early 1990's. He chartered out of Rock Harbor in Orleans Mass.with his boat starting in the mid-1950's when a small striper was 25lbs and under.

His last boat , the "Caroline", he ran until he was about 78 years old. It was the "golden era" of striper fishing on Cape Cod.

Hope you enjoy the plugs!

Doug"
