federal tax credits specific to unions
The new democratic proposed tax plan includes electric vehicle tax credits. The bill specifies significantly larger tax credits for electric vehicles made with union labor.
Subtle. That’s very subtle.
That’s not a quid pro quo?

Ahh
The evil unions
Screw those nasty middle class workers
Why should American workers have health insurance or vacations
Socialism that’s what it is
Just be glad you have a job and thank your employer

not sure where i said anything remotely close to “they aren’t entitled to health insurance”, you’re hearing voices again. Psychiatrists are doing wonderful things these days with the treatment of paranoid schizophrenia. Check it out.
Why are union members entitled to more federal funds, than their non union counterparts? Why does the worker at Ford deserve more federal money than his fellow citizen who works at Honda or Tesla?
Is it just a coincidence that labor unions give huge money to democrats, in return for exactly these kind of quid pro quo’s? Are tax breaks for sale to the highest bidder now?

I’m not the one typing at 3am
Perhaps I should have just said benefits
Ask the superpacs how much congressmen cost
The unions were a big part of ensuring middle class economic gains in the post-World War II era. Union power was broken during the 1980s as the Reagan Administration encouraged union busting. Republicans drummed up the image of corrupt union bosses along with mediocre product quality and high wages making America uncompetitive. It worked - unions were busted up and unions in private enterprise have nearly disappeared aside from the United Auto Workers.
The funny thing is, today’s Republicans are apoplectic about illegal immigration - because illegal immigrants have taken a great many jobs that were once filled with union workers. Now, however, Americans have no interest in farm labor, maid/janitorial service, restaurant kitchens, nanny service, slaughterhouse work, and landscaping. Americans seem to want work inside temperature controlled office buildings.
30 years ago, they bitched about how unions cost too much money in wages. Now, with undocumented immigrants taking jobs, they’re saying “well if employers would pay more, Americans would take those jobs.”

sorry, i pulled an all nighter at work. we have a lot of complicated insurance policies coming up for renewal on 10/1, it’s a busy time. is that a character flaw?
you have a habit of ignoring what i actually said, and responding to something I never said. that’s what one does when they’re on the losing side of an argument.
By what logic does a union worker at Ford have a right to a larger federal tax credit, than a non union worker at Tesla? Any chance you can respond to that very simple, and very pertinent, question?

As for Tesla or Vw or Toyota all non union shops these workers and companies can get the tax credit if they are union. It’s a choice they and their employees need to make .. like get a vaccine or you don’t get to work in a hospital..
These right to work states want the benefits of union representatives but mandated they don’t have to pay
Seem these same states want the same with Covid they want the benefit of a vaccine and vaccinated people and the economically benefit .. with out actually taking
The vaccine …. Funny how that works

“it makes sense to motivate good paying jobs and EVs”
you missed the entire point. entirely. why do union-made EVs deserve more federal motivation than EVs made by Honda and Tesla?
Why is it more important to the federal government that Ford succeed, than it is that Tesla succeed?
That’s the only question. And you won’t answer it.
As to unions, if they’re so great, why is membership mandatory? How come every single time they make membership voluntary, so many people opt out?

Well, Biden is openly a pro union guy. Seems like the incentive is targeted towards pushing the big three to accelerate EV production which would naturally fall on the unionized manufacturers.

same question to you.
the reason why a ford auto worker is entitled to more federal tax relief then a Tesla auto worker, is _________________.
please just fill in the blank.
why is it going to fall on the big 3, more than Tesla? tax credits are for sale to the highest bidder when democrats run things, then?

Tesla is already all EV. The point of the legislation is to push the other American manufactures to accelerate their transformation. Is this hard to understand?

Union membership isn’t required to be in a union , you are not required to be a card carrying member. but you are required to pay what’s called an agency’s fee. Seeing you are benefiting from collective bargaining . In your pay and benefits
But this benefit is for the buyers of the EV cars not the union. Directly
The incentives include a current $7,500 tax credit to purchase a plug-in electric vehicle as well as $500 if the vehicle’s battery is made in the U.S. The bill also removes a 200,000-vehicle phase-out of the credit, allowing GM and Tesla customers to once again be eligible for the incentive. Buyers of EVs produced by unionized workers in the U.S. would be eligible for an additional $4,500 in tax credits, bringing the total incentives to $12,500
seems it is allowing the consumer to decide which product will benefit them the most. I doubt someone looking to buy a Tesla is going to buy a Nissan Leaf because the 4500 if they were union built .. 2 different cars for completely different drivers
Like the vaccines Money is the only way industry gets motivated to move in new directions

ok. the answer is ( because you all
got it wrong), union workers do nothing to deserve more largesse from the feds than their non union counterparts. But they’ll get it, because they bought it by giving huge huge money to democrats.
It’s what both sides do, i expect it and don’t think it’s a huge deal, though if i worked for Tesla i wouldn’t like my congresswoman and senator voting to give a competitive advantage to a competitor,
You guys go berserk when you think the gop does that (and sometimes you’re right, they are doing that), and don’t say anything when democrats do
it. And i’m not sure whether or not you see the obvious. hypocrisy

i taught for awhile, was in the union, saw where my money was going and talked to a lawyer about getting out of the union, went nowhere, they’re too powerful.
i completely agree that those who opt out should not be part of union negotiated agreements on pay and benefits ( why should they?). but why should i give them money so that i can teach? why does a private organization say i have to give them money so i can teach children?
and almost everything a teachers union does, is at the expense of children, not for them. was a big big reason why i quit. they could care less about kids.
not all
unions are like that obviously. but the teachers unions could teach the mafia lessons about endless greed and corruption and strong arm
tactics.
