Anyone eaten orata?

Had this fish at a nice Italian restaurant in Brentwood, CA this past week. Roasted whole and done with minimal treatment.

It was really excellent and fortunately also cooked to perfection.

Taste was closer to a black sea bass than a scup. Not boney and not stringy. Great sweet and delicate meat.

yes, i had it at bartalotta in vegas. excellent fish.

It is simialr to scup, but much more meat and a more delicate flavor.

A once considered mediteranean trash fish. Now a delicacy thanks to over fishing and depleted fish stocks.

likewise scup in Greece according to my Greek neighbor!

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.
