i have turned it in the past, nice turning wood, very dense and heavy.. not sure how it would work as plug material though..
if you turn some let us know what you think.

i made baseball bats years back, and it makes durable furnature as well.. i am sure it would take abuse from toothy blues very well..

Makes nice chair legs and beautiful kitchen cabinets but it is pourous and open grain like red oak, so it would NOT make good plugs.
