The "simple, quick reply" is
"So that the Bass will hit it!"

You gotta think like a fish and work that bait so it looks like a fish and if you bring it by the front of a fish that agrees with you then the fish may come after your bait!

Good Luck

Hope I have helped you in your quest!

Check out Bassmans "Working a Needle" in the "How to" section.

I bought two Habs needles this year. A Blurple and a White. Never really used them much before until I heard about Mikes success down in Rhody.

Still have them both and my biggest fish (31 lbs) was caught on the White one this year. Working the only rock pile we have out here, just like the Man said, and "Blammo", big ass fish on the end.

They are great and with all the pressure in finding them recently I am glad I still have em'. Figured there are probably some guys diving just out at the end of my casting range with a pair of snips just waiting to rob me !

Must be paranoid or something.....

We use needlefish almost exclusively on Block Island and catch lots of fish. I make my own and have found that the slower you retreive the better.
