Thumbs up Got my Van Staal Reels Back From Servicing...

Two reels sent in.

+Week and a half turnaround, and the reels look/feel great! Most I ever did on these reels this season was to rinse them off in fresh water. Even so, there were some mineral deposits on the reel when I sent them in...they came back nice and scrubbed.

+Interestingly, they don't feel as "tight" as a new reel might out of the store.

+No oil leaks yet, and no surprise high dollar repairs either.

Here are the wear items that were replaced:

quad seal #orq2
oil seal #ospr4
o-ring #orr6
lock washer #wslcit1
oil seal #ospr2
o-ring #orr5

on my older VS250 they also took care of

roller guide #sr2022
spindle roller #sr2023

the incremental cost was only $15.75 for these extras.

Presumably the oil and the drag washers were also replaced.

Got some professional correspondence with the reel, asking us VS owners to be patient and reminding us to send in our reels every 12 months. This is a small little itty bitty thing but that reassurance is important and more than a bit more than I got from Reel Ventures LLC (the previous owner of VS).

I'm beginning to believe there is hope yet!

Keep up the good work VS. I'm gonna sacrifice a plug to make sure their is no leakage.

-WW

p.s.

Van Staal has a dedicated facility for servicing. As a reminder, it is:

I got mine back 3 weeks ago and they hit me up for $55 extra. The reels were nice and clean and feel smooth. If they did not list drag washers on your repair invoice then they did not replace them as they are $3.50/ea and are not covered by the warrantee.
I had Penn washers in mine (intentionally) and they replaced them at the $3.50/ea plus $2.50/ea for the stainless washers. I could have replaced them myself for free because the original owner sent me a bag full of Rulon washers.
