Wee Wee @ The Movies: "Cold Mountain"
Was puzzled by this flick.
No doubt a well-made movie, I just wasn't really into it.
Pluses:
1) Nicole Kidman nekkid
2) Natalie Portman sorta half-nekkid
3) Renee Zellwegger is just priceless portraying a country bumpkin hick
4) Nice civil war re-enactments
5) Lots of shoot-em-ups
Minuses:
1) Too much kissy-huggy romance crap.
2) Lots of Brit/Aussie actors trying to fake a southern accent.
My take: a curious flick, sorta felt like a western.
Most of the women I surveyed felt the movie was too violent.
Most of the guys I surveyed said there was too much lovey dovey crap.
So, in the end, nobody is really happy.

I found it as a very serious movie with little comedy. I grew up on boats large and small, so I was in heaven.. its more of a documentary type movie like dances with wolves

Mike, "Master and Commander" gets two wee-wee's up from me. Good flick, if you like Horatio Hornblower you will love this movie. Crowe puts in a good performance, a little more humble than previous flicks.
Lots of action, at times very gory - particularly the boat doctor scenes. Not for the squeamish!

I haven't seen Cold Mountain, but I liked the book.
Master and Commander was very good, and I'm not a R. Crowe fan. I am however a huge Patrick O'brian reader.
