Worst Concert!
Lets do the flip side of Raider Ron's thread. Seems many of us have seen at least a few shows that were a disappointment. Here is mine and in my mind it is a big one. I have seen Robert Cray several times, I am a huge fan, have all his albums, and yes.....I continue to see him because the man is a fantastic blues guitarist. However, the one thing that his shows lack every time I have seen him is, and this is something that makes his style of blues so great is........HORNS! The guy has fantastic horns on every album and hit he has ever had, but every time I have seen him live, he fails to produce the horns that contribute so greatly to his unique sound!  He has recorded with the Tower of Power horns and David Sanborn and yet, not once does he bring them along on tour!  So as much of a fan as I am of Robert Cray.....every time I have seen him, he has really been a disappointment. The horns are crucial to his sound. 
And thats why I've got the blues about Robert Cray live!  |

Grateful Dead '81 at the Gahden. Only thing that kept me from falling asleep was the hippie chicks dancing with no shirts on. Too bad, cuz I was a fan up till that show.

Aerosmith Steve Tyler stumbles through 2 1/2 songs before passing out, falls straight foreward on his face !!!
END OF THE SHOW!!!
Most concerts, some people in the crowd are all F---ed up on drugs and passing out, But the band ? 
Saw Boston on time, kind of the same thing, but the whole band was messed up, but none of them passed out! |

The Moody Blues @ the Gahden '80. I love their music but that show put me to sleep. me and a friend of Mine actually busted out a deck of cards during the show because it such a snooze fest.
Lou Reed @ the Orpheum '85? I couldn't believe he Re-Wrote "Take a Walk on the Wild Side" That is THE song everyone wants to hear from him and he F's it all up. He also didn't play "Heroin" which is the one I wanted to hear.

Well, not show, but I can definitely tell you the WORST warmup act I ever saw was Dexey's Midnight Runners who opened up for AC/DC. This was 1982 (?). Crowd was throwing crap at them on stage and the booing was pretty discernable.

It does get worse, alot worse...
I ran a fog machine for the New Kids years ago at an under 21 Club I used to disc jockey at...
I also ran tracks for them from the DJ Booth!... they sucked!
They were amongst the likes of Milli Vanilli !!!

any respect I may have had has dimminished greatly . there are other ways of getting woman . now you listen to instink and the backdoor guys ?
worst show hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm be-bop deluxe at the palace in waterbury . cancelled show for electrical reason then ripped everyone off for their 6.50 cost of ticket . then a couple years later the palace burned down .
how many remember ticket prices 4.50 - 7.50 for the best headliners of the day . now its 45 to ..................

yes that could be over looked this time but a plus was a girl was involved not just trying to find one . there was one which is the bonus , but the real question is : was it worth it ?
Now I know most dogs have a tale that might not sit so well .
I have to admit that in the 6th grade I did watch soap operas with my girlfriend and fool around during commercials ( wish there were as many as there are now ) LOL .

The 1st concert I saw was the Joe Perry Project w/ the Stompers @ the Orpheum. Tickets were $6.50,$7.50,and $8.50.
The last Concert I saw was Simon and Garfunkel @ the Fleet. They were $125 face each and I had to shell out almost $500 for the pair. (Wifes xmas Present)
How the hell are kids supposed to see live music these days at these prices.

At the risk of being called a name by JohnR again, I got field seats for Michael Jackson's, silver gloved, moon walking, "Beat It" concert at Vet's Stadium in Philly sometime after 1985. Didn't like him then, didn't like him now! I admit it, I only went to gain favor with a woman (but don't mention it to her, she'll be there with me Saturday night).

at woosta centrum - same .... thing -upper balcony.....was screaming at begining of show but the atmosphere up there.... a combination of smokes and other natural gasses is an unusually strong sleep aid and will knock your ass out over and over.
Eventually you leave due to poor air quality .... never again
will i use balcony tickets unless the stadium is outside.  |

First, let me state that my girl's dad was the accountant for the Joe Perry Project, he keeps showing me the "Thanks" section on the album with his name on it.
Worst concert for me was Richard Marx at Lake Compounce. Won tickets on the radio for being the tenth caller...Ol' WAQY didn't say what the prize was, so I called up thinking it would be good.
After I won the tiockets, I had sold them to a buddy of mine, but unbenounced to me, my girlfriend at the time heard me on the radio, and was psyched that I had won tickets to her favorite singign star.
She got drunk and started throwing pretzels at this chucklehead with one of those fedoras with the satin tie around it.
OH BOY!
I never called a radio station to win a prize ever again!!!

and this chucklehead was he sitting in front of her ? blocking her view ? I would have knocked it off his head . and I wouldnt have been drunk to do it . drinking at concerts is a sure way to spend way to much time in the bathroom or cross legged .

One worst concert I went to see but never happened,
Elton John Worcester centrum 1991
Got to the centrum and the show was canceled due to Elton John's health reasons, I think he needed an emergency procedure to remove something lodged in his throat!!!
Another one that sucked, Rod Stewart, He allways has a sore throat and can't sing live to save his life, I think he suffers from the same medical condition as Elton John!!!
