here's mine: t.lapinski thanks for the opportunity!!
Bad day turned good
'' cod trip 2003 ''
It all Started by Mr Macy made a topic on cod fishing.. So I said we would go and asked my dad and he said it was ok, so a few others signed up also, Macojoe, Ri Popper, and a few other people went with them. So about a month goes by and the trip is the next morning.. goto bed early, I could not sleep a wink that night I was sooo excited about the next morning, my alarm goes off around 4:30, I get up and get dressed extra warm for the long day of cod fishing. Than i go out side and i see the boat, It was coverd with ice and it looked really cool. Packed to rods into the boat along with the gps and fishfinder. Dad says '' Lets go '' i said ok and we got into the truck and where off. Truck ran fine boat was hooked up good, me and my dad going back and fourth saying everything that we needed and to see if we forgot anything. Both me and my dad had the biggest grin on our faces as we drove to the ramp. We get to the ramp and see macojoe and mr Macey boat, i'm shaking i'm so happy at this point. So we pull up next to the other boats get out and meet the guys and shoot the breeze for a while waiting for RI Popper to come, So he comes we meet him and than we start talking about putting our boats in, My dad says we should wait for a while because it was low tide, other guys say they are going to put it in. Mr Macey starts to put his boat in and his trailer falls off the leadge but he gets his boat off fine, next in MacoJoe gets in fine , that RI Popper goes in. So we are they only ones left My dad is still thinking wheather to put the boat in or not, So than my dad say we are not puting in the boat at such a a low tide.. than all the guys were like '' comon like put her in... so than my dad say ok....i was out of the boat backing my dad up and BAM my dad say ^%$#@ i lost my break's i said no way... i was soo mad inside but dident want to say anything because i dident want to make my dad feel like he let me down.. so luckly the e-brake worked on the truck and my dad guned the gas and pulled the boat back up.. parked the truck and got out of the truck to tell the guys that we could not put her in.. Mr Macey offerd to put us in.. but we would still have no brakes..So my dad told the guys that we might be able to get the brake line fixed.. but i though to my self it would never happen and the cod trip was over.. i was so mad and sad at the same time i dident no what todo with myself.. I dont think we said one word the whole way home... ( with no brakes at all sept for the e-brake witch was not working very well eather but my dad got us home safely. We pulled up to the house mom came running out of the house asking what was wrong.. my dad told her.. i walked into the house adn sat on the couch. Dad called a well know break place, they said they can have the truck fixed buy 11:00.. So there was hope.. than i was starting to get happy. hour late dad pulled up to the house, we hooked up the boat and where off! we get to the ramp, Beautiful Out sunny!! high tide what more could u ask for? So i get into the boat , dad backs the boat down slides me off i start her up and dock her on the waiting dock dad got in adn we where off i called for the striped-bas team RI told us where they where and we were off.. saw Mr macy going about 100mph lol.. ok so we all meet up start jigging nothing but dog fish macojoe pulled in a 25lb cod early in the day.. so we kept moving around diffrent spots no cod still.. macojoes buddy was getting really sick so he in. So me RI Popper and Mr.macey started to get closer to plymouth because it was getting kinda choppy found some nice humps on the fish finder.. droped the jig and Bam fish on pulled it up keeper cod going about 26 inches after about an hour and a hafe we went in.. Me and dad get into some really really tight water , less that a foot! we went on the wrong side of the garnet.. i was freaking out lol my dad like can you see bottem!!! i was like yeahhhh..( say bottom and rocks!!! so my dad pulls the out drive up just so it is in the water and guns it.. took us about 3 trys to get out on the low water.. so where off again see Mr Macey stoped a ways up He in low water now too! he get out quick tho i turn the corner see RI Popper BEACHED!! i was like oh &*$#.. So Mr. Macy asked us for rope.. We gave him some he got close to RI and than Mr Macy had his boat semi beached he put on his waders got out and pushd off.. the current was wipping so it pushed him again on the beach ... by now RI's boat was all most out of the water Mr Macy get off the beach started her up and the give RI a rope and they start pulling him back to the ramp.. we get back to the ramp safe and sound got both the boat's on the trailer, talked for a while than they left.. me and dad got some food and talkd to some other fisherman for a while..so dad gets the truck backs down i drive the boat up on the trailer adn than we go back to the house talking all the way back on how much fun we had that day.. So all in all it was a great day with a bad start. I had a great day spending time with my Dad, and the other guys.. So if you have a kid take them fishing it will change there life and it will give them somthing to look back on , and somthing to tell there kids about. Because I no I will remember that day for the rest of my life.

im not sure where to post, so I put it in both teen forum and this one.
Well, heres mine.
I have many, many memorable fishing experiences. Even the days I don't catch can be memorable, although I must admit many times I come home frustrated. But it doesn't deter me anymore; unlike last year, I'm more confident and I now know fishing is a game of luring in and tricking your quarry, and the days end result isn't always succesful. The most important memorys are not always catching. Anyway,
It was an October morning in 2002. At about 8 or 9AM Mike and I arrived at Conimicut point beach (for those of you that are not local, its not the best area over here but we didnt have many options)
Much of the day was spent roaming the beaches, attempting to "read the water" without much success, and chasing the occasional blitz that would catch the corner of our eye. Many time we have come to this beach to be greeted by a bunch of rainclouds....there is always rain here, for some unknown reason. Wading was mostly done in my jeans (lol) and we weren't as "equipped" as we are now. But we would walk, sometimes pretty long distances, and of course factoring in the sand that can be tiring. The day passed by slowly. Small blitzes here and there, small patches of bait, but nothing special. I specifically remember us making "rod holders" out of a two-hole cinderblock, and it would work quite well. We would let our rods sit with bait, while eating saltine crackers and reciting lines from Jaws. I realized we had about an hour to go until my dad came to get me (it was now approaching around 4:30PM) We continued with our normal talking, and just hanging out on the beach, when in the corner of my eye I spotted a ferocious blitz. We grabbed our rods out of the holders and ran to the site, but by the time we got there and casted it was basically over.
Then, much to our surprise, a young (maybe 25 year old) guy was fishing a grassy point not too far away. This isnt a very crowded location for fishing, so we decided to check it out. As we neared the spot, the man was pulling in some nice little schoolie stripers and small blues. This was exciting, we immediatly began casting and retreiving 4" storm wildeye baits and hooking up with fish. I dont specifically remember the tally that night - i've caught more, and bigger fish since then....but for some reason, that night sticks in my head. My dad was yelling at me through my cell phone, waiting at the parking lot some distance away, but we just had to keep embracing this chance, catching these fish....it was a fun night, but eventually we had to call it quits when my dad began threatening me through my cell phone. After many schoolie bass and bluefish action, Mike and I returned to my dads truck. I had a mix of excitement and regret in me - I was glad after catching all those fish and my adrenaline was still pumped, but I didn't want to leave the action...
I will never forget that night, as the most memorable fishing experience I have ever had. I don't think it can be described well through words, I think Mike would agree. It would have to be experienced by another, first hand. And it wouldnt matter how many fish taht person has caught, and how big they were - there was just something about the setting, the mood, and the blitz, that combined and made it a perfect night.
 worth a shot.......im not looking to win anything, just thought I would share the experience.....

Good story Link Jr, I want in on the cod trip this spring, youre boat mine or both doesnt matter. That's pretty good stuff about grounding, I was cruising off of the flats by Hog Island this past summer and must have been a freak tide cause the sand was only about 2" below the water I was cruising along and saw it just in time to cut around away from it Phew that was too close for comfort.

here are Katie's storys:
Quote:
my most memorable moment was when my dad,my sister, and i met my dad's friend Dave aka canalman on the other s-b.com and when we got down to out lil spot we saw tons of seagulls and all we could think was "BLITZ!!!" we ran with our plug bags and our rods as fast as we could and we just lost it laughing but as we were running my reel messed up and so i had to use one of dave's rods with a shweet white needle on it so here we are chasing these bass that are all well over 29inches and there were some blues mixed in and we're catchin them left and right and thank god i had my plyers cuz there were a few blues that just loved the needle so much they wanted to swallow it. so after getting the needle out of the moths of the darn blues we finally run into some SHWEET sized bass all over 32 inches tons of peanut bunker everywhere so we had to problem following the fish and they were about i'd have to say about 2 feet off the shore of the beach so the water wasn't too deep. so in the end i had caught 8 fish 4 bass 4 blues my dad caught like 10 fish 3 blues 7 bass dave caught 9 fish 5 blues 4 bass and my sister who was the one who almost got the plug hook in her face while running got 6 fish 3 bass 3 blues.. so in the end after chasing the fish up and down the beach we did pretty darn well.
|
Quote:
another one of my many favorites was when my dad me and his friend dave went down to pur little spot and it was about 8:30pm at night at the end of August and it was a full moon out and its clear as can be not to cold or windy and so another one of our friends show up Don, who is a spectacular fisherman.there these people from everywhere that bring their trailors and put them along the beach in their lots and so Don comes froms his trailor and we all get downthere and after about an hour theres nothing we had tried pogies, mackeral, herring, plugs and there was nothing out that night so when Don is out in the water in his wetsuit and his wading boots he starts pretending like he has the biggest fish in the world and so we all run down there and find out he's just standing on his plug.. so we all start laughing and then there was this older guy in his late 60's and he ran over with all his stuff rod included and comes over and asks these questions like its a interogation and he's asking "What test line ya using? What type of plug? What type of leader?" and so on.. the old guy casts out about 20 feet away and about a minute after that Don pretends that he has another fish and we know hes just standing on the plug again so the old guys is REALLY trying to find Don's line to cast where he is and so he casts right in front and then Don pretends to lose the fish. He comes up to change his plug and then the old guy goes back to where he was in the first place and then Don and Dave work this plan out to mess with this guys head some more and so they both pretend to cast out and the after they pretend to catch the fish when they are really standing on their plugs the old guys comes running over fast as he could again with all his stuff and he starts asking these questions again "What test line ya using? What type of plug? What type of leader?" and while the old guys quizzing Don and Dave. Dad and I are laughing histerically and we had to turn the lantern off so the old guy wouldn't see us if he hadn't already spotted us. and at the end of it all the old guy left thinking there were 50 pound bass around and Don and Dave come back up and we light the lanter again and We all pack up to leave and we are all laughing histerically and we didn't end up getting nothing not even seaweed. So we all returned home covered in sand and we tracked it all around the house and ticked my mom off who hates sand with a passion and then after sweeping the floor for 15 minutes we showered and went to bed laughing.

Thanks t.lapinski
Here are Amythefish's stories
One day there was a cool plugs. The cool plugs was quite content to live in a bags and eat thought.
Suddenly, there was a sweet knocking sound coming from the bait. The plugs jumped in fright. It decided to run to the rod, and got there just in time to see a funny fish standing there! The fish waved a huge smelly eel and the plugs turned into a awsome reel. One quite unable to talk!
The fish shimmered and disappeared, leaving a few mine in its place. The reel picked up the mine and popped one into her guts. The gift of speech befell the reel, who exclaimed,
"What a striper day! I think I shall pick walked!"
Off went the awsome reel, insane running and skipping, finally tripping on a green walks and toppling headlong into a cool Dave. Needless to say, it succumbed to a blue death.
The moral of this story?
If you are thinking of becoming a plugs, never open a rod until you are sure there is no funny fish lying in wait.
Above all, live outragious. The walked you eat may be your last!
this story was made with a story genorator

fishing plum island a few years ago with my dad, i was maybe 12 or 13. catchin schoolies YAY!! well anyways we snag some flourescent yellow mono bout 25 pound test and its obvious it goes out a long way so we start pulling it in. BUT. it starts pulling back!!! theres a fish on here it isnt small either. my dad is handlining the fish in while im wading out farther waiting for the fish to come in so i can grab it. i see the fish come to the surface, and i turn around lookin at my dad, mouth open, and just put my hands out sizin up the fish. it was prob around 30 pounds, someone was probally cut off fighting this fish earlier in the day. well we were having alot of trouble holding onto the fish in the current and the line was cutiing my dads hand. the line snapped and the fish about 75 ft from shore just took off. it just ended like that. yup random story haha.
