give ya a hint,,,,gibbs used eegshell finish in oil,3 coats, so I'm thinking that rust o leum in satin is the way to go.. flat is a bit to soft.. the more shine in the paint the harder it is.

Dave, I used Benjamin Moore oil primer for a batch of plugs recently, but I like the Bullseye 123 zinseer stuff in the blue can, it has a slight sheen to it too.

soul glo...
There was an interesting article in this month Home Handyman, on waterproofers, that can be painted over. Behr makes one, and there was another, I will look for the info and post it later.

I went out today and tested some bm's
guess im getting good at this.
I tested other lures I have gotten, But im afraid to post results
But I would like to, to be honest and maybe help a few out in what they need to do.
I cant stress that the thery behind tweaking a lure needs to be put through the paces and time in on the wood. and tweaking the lure.

If your going to use Ben Moore use the 02400 or the 09400 oil primers. They will penetrate the wood and give good bite. Capesams is right about the higher sheen levels being harder and you could put a coat of eggshell oil white (10801) on after that, but the primer is a must before paint. I wouldn't go high gloss though because you may encounter adhesion issues. Just my 2 cents. Also make sure the primer and oil paint has had more than enough time to fully dry if you're going to put createx over it, any residual oils and the paint will be very unhappy.
