It sounds like we as fishermen and Women should have some Ethics. Is lying ok? Is Lying part of ethics? So if the answer is yes, when we teach our kids to fish we should also have them join the liars club?

You say "nice fish" and I won't lie to you.

Ask where I caught it and I probably forgot the exact location

The only thing I lie about is when I tell you I don't lie! Honestly, on occasion, I will fib about a location to someone who I believe to be a real yahoo! For the most part, I am pretty forthcoming to people who give me the same deal. Always lie at the b & t when I weigh in about location though, don't want it to get into print even though someone rolled me on a location not too long ago!

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

I don't even tell the women I love where I'm catching. She might bump into someone in the market the next day, and I don't want her to have to lie. So I don't tell her. After every lunar cycle I give her a month update of how I did and where I fished and with what. I present it to her in two forms: one is quantitative, written in tabulation on the computer, with catch-per-unit-of effort(CPU) graphes; and the other is an qualitative written account, which she can read in the tub, if she likes. I love her but I would hate for her to talk to someone knowing full well that I caught a keeper the night before at the Light on a rigged eel. The burden would be too much for her to bear.

Absolutely,

Like canalratt said, sometimes you just don't tell the whole truth. If that's lying, I do it all the time.

And it depends on the parties involved... if I'm sittin' in my honey-hole and someone comes by and asks, "you ever get anything here" ... am I going to say "yes, I get 'em here all the time, usually big ones and this is what I use."

I'd be a pretty big idiot to do that. I'd probably say,"I get 'em here from time to time"... or something like that.

But if someone I know comes along, I'd probably give some more details.

But as far as numbers and size, I don't see alot of point in that.

So I pretty much lie downward... or lie to protect a spot. I don't lie upward to try and make myself look better. I'm not trying to impress anyone.
