signs of spring

after the few really nice days we have all enjoyed, i'm just wondering what you folks look for as your first sign of spring?
I have a couple...daffodils sprouting, and my always dependable redwing black birds!!
The daffodils have started but no RWblackbirds yet.
other things i look for are Ospreys and crocusis.

what do you folks look for???

redcrbbr
of all the things i've lost...i miss my mind the most!!

I look for plankton blooms in the salt pond, and the grass shrimp coming into the shallows. Ospreys too. And terns---the sound of the first spring tern is a sound I never tire of hearing.

I look for the snow to disappear from my front front yard

The first sign is my neighbor's kid fly fishing for trout through a 6 foot round hole in his pond................

Chives and daffodils are up..........

was gonna

say: hey the red winged black birds are here.....and the grackles but ya beat me to it..... the real sign of spring is hearing a robins morning song for the first time.... but some over winter , so the defining moment for me is the deafoning sound of the spring peepers.

St. Paddy's Day in Newport, where we all hoist a couple to salute our Irish brethren as they march down Thames - yup, half the town comes out to watch the other half march.

That Monday I'll be goin' for my trout license and then...

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.

When the herring start running... and... when bassmaster disappears from the internet for 3 weeks, no posts, no lurking.. and does not even show up at all on the "who's online"
That's the clue... unplug the daygone PC, and go fishin'!

Beautiful sunrise this morning, followed by the arrival two "red, red, robins bop, bop bopping along" in my front yard chowing down on worms or something. It's the classic sign that Spring is here. I will not be convinced otherwise.

You find yourself saying things Like

"Sinden S$%ks"

"Its not like it used to be when Bird, McHale, and Parish were out there"

"I'm telling you this is the year, They've shored up their rotation and [insert favorite player here] was really smacking the cover off the ball in Spring Training."

Dont the Rangers usually get eliminated from the playoffs around the time that we first start ice fishing.
