Synthetic oil
Anybody interested in reading about synthetic oils???
Click on www.synthetic-oil-tech.com
It's all that I use in my Evinrude !!!
And I would still decarb your engine every 50- 100 hours if you use the synthetic oil.

I run nothing but Evinrude Ram Ficht oil which is a synthetic blend,
I also add carbon guard every time I fuel up.
I am very happy with using what the factory recommends.
Just my .02

Bigcat,
I just bought this years oil for my ficht.
Did you see its not RAM oil anymore, they have changed it XD50. It has blended more synthetic in it and high detergency to keep carbon build-up low.
Will know soon enough how it performs.

Van,
I was told it was just a name change X50=Ram and X30 for the Johnsons.
They also have a Bio-D that is used for operating temp's below 32F.
I have 8 gallons on hand so I won't know for a while.

I hear ya my 99 225 Ficht runs great! I put my batteries in today hooked up the hose and turned the key twice for less than 6 seconds and it fired right off. I winterized in October, so she's been sitting 5-6 mos, now I just can't wait to get out codfishing. By the way where are you buying this new oil? How much a gallon and is it that much better than Ficht Ram oil?

Vectorfish, I have not seen any of the X-50 oil because I have not been out to a dealer. I have enough in stock for a few months.
I would say try Eagle Marine in Sagamore, or Edwards Marine in Falmouth should have it in stock.

Mines a 2001 175 ficht.
No problems yet. Except for a broken bolt i found last year, but it might have just been an overtorque at the factory.
No major problems at all.
Great engine.
