Did any of you see it , It is one GREAT read about the Real Pioneer and LEGEND Stan Gibbs, Charlie Soares did a super job writing it. I am going to frame mine and hang it in the shop..........

JHabs....I also enjoyed the article, well done by Charlie Soares. I tucked a couple away. Truely a pioneer in his field and we all owe him quite a debt of gratitude for the great work that he did. We will all benefit from it for years to come.

It really was a great article on Stan Gibbs - I got a call from Charlie Soares this afternoon and complimented him on it, told him how much I enjoyed it.

A very well written piece on a true pioneer.

That was a great Bio. Charlie Soares has done a wonderful job this cold winter...Those articles on trophy bass and past history of the bass clubs were great and this one on Stan Gibbs shows real class and was a pleasure to read in "The Fishermen". Gibbs was not a guy who ate quiche in a waterfront office, IMO, he blazed his own trail, one plug at a time. I am glad someone paid proper homage to the man; a great local surfcaster who had a wonderful talent.

Flap I usually checked to make sure the batteries were good. Besides celestial navigation is easier when it's nice and black out without interference of background light. I will admit to a few close calls with the commercial boats steaming along in the channel on those foggy nights and mornings though.

How the heck did you two keep from capsizing a 14 ' skiff? the center of gravity must have been WAAAAY above the gunnel.

Buried under the big pile of "important stuff" I managed to find the 96 Aug OTW which featured Flaptail's article of Stan Gibbs and Gibb's lures. I had put on one of those yellow sticky papers to mark this article back in 96 as a must save. Steve talks alot about his meetings with the man from the time when Steve was a youngin up to recent years. He discusses the development of a variety of Gibb's lures like the darter, polaris, pencil popper, canal special etc, and why Stan developed them to do what they do under certain conditions. It's a good read if you still got it.

Thanks Martin for remembering this one. It's a nice compliment to Charley's article in the Fisherman last week
