Re paint

i got some nice but old wooden plugs.. lots of paint chipped away etc. how do you go about refinishing a plug ? scrape off all the original paint, and re paint all toghether?.. a few pointers would be much appreciated.. i want to start using these again ya know

Wipe them down with alcohol, then get a can of spray paint the color you like and spray them.

hey striprman, I didn't know you were a plug builder, that's some pretty sound information.

Buckskin-remove what hardware you can, give them a good sanding, hit them with a coat or two of binz primer in the red spray can. let them dry (1 hour or so) sand again with 220 grit or lighter. wipe them down with denatured alcohol and paint however you like-I prefer the rust-o-leum painters touch from homies. Once they are dry put a coat of epoxy on em and fish hard when they dry.

Thats what works for me, I paint my old lures with rustoleum.

if they are beat from fishing and not just age, then fish em as is.... MoJo....
