Hey, Bryan - What's Da Latest on The MDA Tourney?

Nothing formal; Maybe a pre fishing meeting at the willows? I have a feeling most will be fishing when they can; I'm fishing most of the night Fri, maybe a few hours of sack time but not many, same on sat.. where and when I'll be I have no idea yet... how much are you planning on fishing?
Breakfast is 730a in coventry.... I think 7 clams, all ya can eat buffet....
And this is the MS tourny, MDA is in the fall....

would it be legal to canoe to a rockpile, get out of the canoe and fish off the rockpile??? IF the fish was caught off the rocks it should be counted as a shore fish.
If thats legal I got a plan for us chuck...

i do not beleive this is legal, as the idea was brought up last year regarding kayaking to spots in the MDA. i am not totally sure though. you might want to check out the RISAA website as they have a page dedicated to the tourney.

E...
I think that this is against RISAA's normal shore rules, so would likely be against the MS tourney rules....
BP there is always room for you on this darkside
if not I'll be seeing ya in a few weeks....

Nooooo......stay away from the Dark Side, Eben......
Hey, Eb, I gotta try to pack my 704 chromer with that axle grease you mentioned - what do ya use to pack it with? The clicker on the 704 makes me nuts, I always thought it traveled into the line too -
Maybe not, but it might - just want to eliminate the racket.

I used a greasegun.. just pumped it in there till it looked over full and squeezed the plate on.. it oozed out the edges of the plate and I wiped it off with paper towels... You really want to use the blue marine grease. It will resist corosion better than the axle grease. If you want I'll bring my gun with me for the tourney-

weighed one at 15 (ok, 14.7, was a long lean fish, 36.5" only thing in it';s gut was a green crab... no bait... bad sign...)
Over all, I think fishing sucked, I hit most of my favorite narragansett area spots for limited results..lotta hours.. fished sunset to sunrise friday night and 9p-11p & 130a-545a on sat/sunday my fish per hour ratio blew....
went to another spot on the so. shore this am 330-545 and found rats in good numbers but nothing of an eatable/weighable size...
hope everyone else faired better.... see ya at the breakfast...

Pulled an all nighter last night.... its 7:00 am and I'm getting home just now. Got skunked.. it was horrible. Ran into lots of guys who where fishing the tourney all were doin horrible.
BUT.... and I hope Goosefish is reading this...I found a black needlefish I lost 2 weeks ago on the rocks behind where we were fishing I think that makes up for being so shamefully skunked.

Hit a couple spots from 9pm til 2:30 - nada. Conditions were OK.
Saw Basic Patrick do his imitation of a seal in his Aquaskinz but he did manage a barely 3# blue - released - that might have been one of the bigger caught over the weekend ....

Yeah fishing this weekend was horrible... I havent seen any bait around or in the gut of any bass I've cleaned..... my totals for the weekend....
18 hrs spent pulling almost two all nighters (slept 11-1a sat. night/sun morning) for 1 keeper, a bunch of rats at a bouldery spot on the south shore, not where you may have been BasicP, I was east of there about 6 miles....
and two other hits on eels during sat am pre dawn.... this feels like april fishing... looooong weekend, I think I'm finally caught up on sleep after 11hrs last night.....
Thanks to everyone from NCSWFC who tried, I know a few got the skunk, and remember there is the MDA tourney in Oct, should be much better and hopefully bigger fishing then.....

Thanks to all who represented the NCSWFC. Do to some family committments I wasn't able to head over to South County. I was able to hit my home water on Friday night - managed 3 bass with one in the high teens and another in the low twenty pound range. Of course my home water was off limits in this tourney! Hopefully next year they will give us east bay casters a chance to win this thing. Thanks again.

DZ... sounds like you did pretty much better than us, we were hurting in so.co..
at the breakfast Bob and I talked, we're hoping that next year some extension will be granted (even if it's just one island for now it would be better than nothing...
we finished third in the club division,;
RISAA 1
Hartford (I think it was them) 2
Newport 3
They skipped the bluefish prized and went 1, 2 on bass because the biggest blue was about 4 pounds...
tight lines...

Bryan,
Those west bay guys are afraid we'll take the prize (rightly so I might add Iron Mikes reputation for taking big bass has them scared - they don't want us to fish our water. I really can't see what difference it makes where you fish as long as it's in Rhode Island and I told that to Bob. I'd still be willing to weigh the fish over on that side - just let me fish where I'm 5 minutes from the water - is that asking too much? It's all for a good cause - why cram everyone into South County? Just my 2 cents.
